Talk about missing the point. Why don't they have vehicles or money for bus fare or the ability to see the storm coming and get themselves out of there? It's because they have never known how to earn money to buy vehicles and to be responsible for themselves.
then the information needs to be put out there regarding health. More schools need to teach health education. There should be higher taxes on McDonalds and Burger King, and all unhealthy fast foods, taxes which should go straight to medicare and medicaid. The FDA can't just sit back and do nothing and pass all this unhealthy processed ****, and not share in some of that responsibility. I marijuana is illegal, and is going to stay that way, then McDonalds should be illegal too.
What in the world does personal responsibility have to do with the situation I just described? If Bandit worked for a career and paid his premiums, yet ended up with a serious medical bill and no insurance, how has he been irresponsible? You make no sense. You keep trying to change the issue to responsible people paying for irresponsible people, but many of the uninsured are hard-working responsible people that can't get coverage because of existing insurance industry practices.
Oh my word. What is unhealthy is eating anything without moderation. Taxing people b/c others can't stop stuffing their fat face. Ugh. I guess some people just want Govt. cradle to grave...
Look at it from a premium payers perspective. We are paying them to assume our risk, but they want to be able to drop us to reduce or even eliminate their risk. They insist on an arrangement where they can't lose, but the premium payer can.
Personal responsibility means you take care of yourself. Just because you work doesn't mean you have a right to health insurance. Again insurance is a transfer of risk and if the risk is too high then who the F would take that bet? It's just stupid. I have never once said anything about irresponsible people. What I think is responsible is creating a major medical or high deductible plan. Stop thinking that your insurance should pay for your doctor visit or your meds but rather a catastrophic event. That is what it is designed for. Unfortunately the unions and HMOs changed that idea for the worse and now people are bitching about what something is not suppose to be. Protect yourself and your family from an unfortunate event and PAY for the services you use yearly. And if you can't pay either work on getting more healthy or find other private assistance programs that are available.
Blah. Insurance companies base their risk on actuarial tables just the same as Life Insurance companies. X amount of lives will create X amount of claims. Some of use will use it and some of us won't. That's the bet... I bet next you will be bitching about how they should write life insurance for someone on their death bed. It's a business.
Are you paying attention at all? You just keep ignoring that we were talking about people who pay insurance and get dropped and can't get insurance that they are willing to pay for. How do you keep from being run over by a bread truck or getting brain cancer by being responsible. It is crazy. What do you think "personal responsibility"means then? You used the phrase and said that I have "forgotton" it. I don't think you know what you are talking about.
