The country is now headed the same direction as Greece.
This Whole process was totally dirty, unethical and illegal.
So much for the transparency and the most ethical congress in history.
Kimberley A. Strassel: Inside the Pelosi Sausage Factory - WSJ.com

Even in these waning minutes, Senate Democrats were playing their own games. Republicans announced they had found language in the House reconciliation bill that could doom this entire "fix" in the Senate. Since many House Democrats only agreed to vote for the Senate bill on promises that the sidecar reconciliation would pass, this was potentially a last-minute killer.

Senate Democrats handled it by deliberately refusing to meet with Republicans and the Senate parliamentarian to get a ruling, lest it be unfavorable and lose House votes. The dodge was a clear dereliction of duty, but Democrats figure the Senate parliamentarian won't dare derail this process after ObamaCare passes. They are probably right.

As of tomorrow, when the bill is signed, insurance companies can no longer deny coverage to young people with pre-existing conditions, plus they cannot charge more for that coverage. So, people with cancer, etc, needing millions of dollars in treatments can buy a policy for a few hundred a month in premium. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is a losing proposition for the insurer. They will then demand that the lawmakers allow them to charge a premium proportionate to the risk, which of course, will be flatly denied. Insurers, facing massive losses, will shut their doors. The government will then have to step in and provide coverage for the masses.

And that, my friends, is exactly what Obama, Pelosi and Reid want to happen.

The insurance companies have done it to themselves also though.
Some of them supported this thinking they would have that many more customers in the pool.
Just wait if this part is found unconstitutional because of states rights or individual rights, that will make them sink that much quicker.

How? By trying to keep up with the escalating costs of health care? Insurance companies don't make health care costs go up. Technology is rapidly gaining on disease control but they are not cheap. Doctors run unnecessary expensive tests to hold off the malpractice lawyers watching their every move. Pharmaceutical giants scheme every day to protect the high prices they get for their drugs. When you get sick and go to your insurance company they have to pay for the care and if premiums don't keep up, they are out of business.

The alternative? Government provided health care. Oh yeah. That'll show those heartless bastards.

    No, you are misunderstanding me.
Some insurance companies supported the bill because they thought they were going to have more customers.

They will, but it won't make up for the pre existing mandate and their inability to place limits on their policies. Insurance companies are not large faucets with money running out into big buckets all the time.

Hey, I'm one of the few around here that fully understand what is happening and I am in your corner.
Just pointing out that some insurance companies screwed themselves.

You are falling into Obama's trap of painting insurance companies as the villian.
