A welfare bill that's going to save us money, yes a lot of fact in that. The question isn't if middle class working Americans are going to get the shaft in this bill the question is how big is the shaft going to be?

that means next to nothing. how is one example is supposed to account for 1 million.

capitalistic natural selection is unethical. it is contrary to the social contract that supposedly exists. and this dog eat dog is exploitative and counterproductive.

embracing and even maintaining the american propaganda rags-to-riches story is horrible. when it takes exceptional genes or luck or effort to live a comfortable life its a crappy system that needs to be improved. i dont see how it can be debated that it take an exceptional individual to rise out of the bottom 10-20 of society since relatively few do it. by definition they are exceptional. you should take that as a compliment, btw.

you sure let the rhetoric fly with the "redistribution of wealth" and "mooch off of the federal teet".

anyway this is off the point. many of the very poor already have free health care in medicaid. a major part of the dem plan for reform is providing it to those that work but cant afford it. i dont think we are talking about lazy people, but about the unexceptional working poor.

i agree completely. chronic gov assistance will spoil many. it is the govs burden to figure out a way to best help. it is grotesque to me that only a few states make sure children have health care. at least our country should be able to provide that. and, again, apart from the ethical arguments, i dont see how that would not be considered a wise investment.

sure, but many people are even worse at it, like, say, 5 yr olds.

That right there is the flaw in your theory. It takes hard work and perseverence to live a comfortable life. The government's job is to run the government, not peoples lives.

The majority of the working un-insured can't afford insurance because of their lifestyle choices. No one should be taxed so a family with a 60 K income can drive BMWs and afford insurance.
