We are so loaded on the D Line. I can't wait to see what Coach Saban does with them. Even though we are losing 4 guys on defense, we'll still be just as good this season. I'm thinking that we could possibly have 3 All Americans on defense.

Not sure if Favorite gets redshirted if he's as good as advetised but we have 4 redshirt freshman that were advertised to be just as good as him. also, Saban and the staff will be looking to cover up for a weak recruiting class in LA next year so we may redshirt more than warranted to not have as deep of a whole in 2005 class.

PnGtiger, you can redshirt the entire class if you want, there are no restrictions on that. the coaches just try to look at depth charts, who are the PLAYERS and when do you want certain guys available. There are many times when the better of 2 players at the same position gets a redshirt so that he can relpace an eventual starter farther down the road, especially when the starter is a Frosh or soph.

cajdav 1 Why do you think we'll have a hole in recruiting next year? Is it because we are so talented already that many players will opt for other schools so they get playing time? I kinda understand a guy's motive to go somewhere he can show his stuff on the field.

PnGTiger, I think he means because the consensus among a lot of the recruiting gurus is that next year's louisiana senior class isn't as strong as it normally is. i've seen dandy don mention that as well.

At his press conference announcing his commitment, Marlon Favorite said that he would love to be able to play next year, but if he or the coaching staff feels he's not quite ready to contribute, he is more than happy to redshirt. Sounds like we got another good guy in addition to a good player.

    GREAT

One thing that we can say about our team is that 99% are great people on top of being outstanding athletes. The character of our team is unbelievable. Shyrone Carey was the single incident this year that was a distraction but I think he was punished properly by holding him out of the NC game. Everyone deserves a second chance. Its's not like he raped or stole or commited a crime against another person. He just got caught up in the moment where a young man who probably doesn't have much money saw an opportunity to make some cash. I'm not saying it was OK, just saying the temptation would make a lot of people think about it.
On that note, I assume he still received a championship ring. Any thoughts?

Well, if Hill does indeed gain weight, he could be moved to tackle and take over for Lavalais there. That would allow Oliver to move to Hill's old DE position and sub Pittman in on passing downs, etc.

With Favorite in the mix, the possibilities are endless!!!! I LOVE our D-line!!!!

that's right, the class of 2005 is expected to be lean by LA standards, which may still be pretty strong when compared to most states. And the coaches don't always redshirt the lesser of 2 players as they look down the road to see who they want playing when the incumbent is gone as well as who will be available in a recruiting class.

I would imagine that schools all around the country had the Wide out position circles for last year and this year as their were some amazing talents available.
