I just want to see the running element of MF's game... I have always been big on running qbs... option in college, scrambler in the pros...
But do you think North Texas was really giving it their all at that point? (Not knocking Flynn--I loved his performance, I'm just asking an objective question).
On two of the TDs it looked almost like NT was playing a prevent-type defense. There were no defenders withing 5-10 yards of the receivers.
He played in a game earlier this year. He's redshirted now. No matter which is the correct way to explain it, he's redshirted. Take Addai for instance. He rushed 8 times for 28 yards in 2 games his TRUE Freshman season. He redshirted the rest of it. He then rushed for 438 yards as a RS-Fresh 520 yards as a RS-Soph. 680 yards as a RS-Junior and 642 yards thus far this season as a RS-Senior Count 'em up. That's 5 years ('01,'02,'03,'04,'05) that he has stats recorded in the record books. and if you still don't believe me, just check the media guide--I took the infor straight from that.
I agree. I think JR is trying to be a bit more , or too careful throwing because of his history of making some bad decisions and throwing interceptions dating back to the Saban years. Again I wish he can have a better vision spotting open receivers. One other thing that I hope he can improve on (I am sure he's been told) is that he should make throws that are easier for his receivers to catch; I had wondered if the times when the receivers looked bad were due to his difficult to catch passes. Flynn seems to have a much better touch on the passes that makes them more catchable. Of course, last night, he was passing against a worn out/or deflated defense. Hope he comes in earlier for the Appalachian game against a more fresh and hopefully faster defense. He needs the experience. From the newspaper today, the quote from one of the receivers seem to suggest that they are confident in him. ________ AlexaShy
To confirm-I was at the Tulane game way back when Addai was a true fresh. He was #41 at the time and got some action at the end of the game. Along with the other big time RB recruit Derron Parquet (remember him?)
What in the world are you talking about? You can play in the first 3 games and then be redshirted that would give you stats in all five seasons. What I posted was that it was not a percentage of plays in a season like you posted but a percentage of games and none past the 3rd game. If you reread my post I said one play in a game counts as a game played, I didn't say one play and you can't redshirt.
guys chosenone is correct. The rule states that to redshirt a player may not participate in any game during the season. Now there is also a rule that says if a player is dealt a season ending injury during or before the third game of the season a player will automatically receive a redshirt so long as they don't play in any other games the rest of the year. IF RJF played last night he will more then likely not receive a redshirt unless the NCAA gives it to him because this was supposed to be our first game of the year. If korte has not played since before the end of the third game he will receive a redshirt if he applies for one. Its not based on percentage of plays or games. This is the rule. Hope this clears somethings up and stops the arguing.
One play burns your redshirt ... ask Travis Daniels. Addai was granted a medical redshirt b/c he was injured and didn't play in more than 20% of the regular season. That is where the 3 game rule comes in. The NCAA is pretty loose on what they call an injury, but the school must submit a medical statement to get a medical redshirt for a player. Not sure of the injury Addai had in 2001, but a hangnail may qualify.
