Wait, what?? Now, you'll see from my other posts that I am a pretty big JJ fan...and expect him to be much better this year. But that spring game was bar none the worst I have ever seen him play, and JLee threw yet another pick 6. Neither QB looked even decent in the spring game. You're talking about 2010 spring game, right??
Here's the keys IMO. 1)Stop the run. If we can do that, as stated earlier, our secondary should be able to eat them up. - 2)Get ahead early. Again, their passing game is pretty pitiful, and if we jump on them, they'll have to pass. Advantage LSU. - 3)OL/Running game (LSU's). We need to establish the run early. We need it to show them that we are not last year's team...but more importantly, for LSU's own confidence. It helps sustain drives, and keeps their D on the field. That is their strong point, and we need to break it. Also, with the playmakers at our skill positions, if they have to account for a strong running game, look out for our WRs! 4)Be aggressive!! On both sides of the ball.
The first thing I'm looking for is protection for JJ. If he gets confidence in his OL then it's all over for the tarballs.
IMO, it wouldn't hurt him to trust himself and his receivers either. FWIW, I think he will this year. But yes, OL is a concern...more for the season than just as a key to this particular game.
I love this game, especially for this team. A good OOC test, right off the bat, for the part of the team that has the most to prove - the running game on offense. Would've been hard to script a better opponent, IMO.
With the exception of the Penn State game last year, it seems that Miles has the team really ready when he has a few weeks to prepare -- VA Tech, his first 4 bowl games. Plus, I love where we're ranked right now because it seems to be pissing off the players. Countin down.... :geaux:
Well I agree, but VT wasn't the first game of the season that year. LSU defeated MSU 45-0 on a Thursday nite game to open the College Football season. The VT game was the next weekend.
This is true, but I read in an article somewhere that he began preparing for VT before we beat MSU that season. He spent a couple weeks of summer practices preparing for VT before they started on MSU from what I read.
Way to get them stirred up. We pushed you guys out the way so we could step up in competition. Man i wish we played you guys this season too. I'd love to trade the WnM game for the shamecocks. I got a whole kitten kaboodle of fans that are confident in saying we'll win by a fg. 7 to 10 points is that toothless wonder talking again. Sorry guys.
Here's what scares me about this game. Yall DE, can't remember his name. Joe Barksdale will be just settling in at LT, and this guy is a monster. Joe is extremely atheltic and i think can keep him at bay, but we cant let jj get hit and lose confidence.
