As far as a list. How about Herman, Fedora, Peterson, Shaw, and Fleck? We didn't even TRY to take on Texas for our top choice. Maybe we can't outbid Texas, but how do we know what it would have taken to get Herman? Fedora is a solid choice. Good offensive mind. Peterson?? Why not?? LSU is a better job than Washington. At least see what he wants. Shaw, probably not leaving Stanford, but make him tell you no. Fleck?? Too young?? Maybe, or maybe he's a young Nick Saban. If you go through that list, REALLY go through that list and everybody tells you no, maybe you just hire Orgeron. But that's not what they did.
I'll support coach O, but I agree this coaching search was a sham. But then again it's Joe Alleva. Joe Alleva could drown in the desert. He wouldn't be able to find water in Ponchatrain. He is the worst AD LSU has ever had and the day his ass is gone we should have a parade. Fucking Yankee fuck.
So get turned down by Fisher and Herman, then go after coaches you are 99.9% sure won't come, ie Shaw and Peterson and get turned down by them, possibly get turned down by coaches you really don't want to hire ie Rodriguez and Holgorsen - seems like a waste of time, money, and prestige. I wasn't happy with the O hire, mainly because I was excited about the idea of Fisher or Herman. But after those two, I can't think of anyone we could have realistically hired that I was really excited about. I didn't want Fedora (no defense). Shaw is just a West Coast Les Miles. Fleck is an interesting possibility but a big risk, one Oregon didn't want to take. Coach O did a respectable job as interim. Outside of the Florida game, the team took a giant leap forward under Coach O. If we had played that way all year, "we coulda been a contenda". We kept our defensive guru, we kept our recruiting guru. Add an innovative and creative OC and we will be a contender. I'm feeling a little uneasy with Orgeron, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt. All the gnashing of teeth isn't doing anything but turning off recruits. I'm with Twisted, he deserves a chance. If he blows it, then he'll bring wrath upon his head. But I think this team can be pretty good next year if Aranda can plug in the holes on defense. Give it a chance. He might be Curly Hallman but he might be Dabo Sweeney. Let it play out. Until then be positive, support the team, show recruits that the future is bright.
Herman - was not coming here, playing us with Texas and if he would have come here then the Texas job opens up he would bolt next year Fedora - no thanks we did better with O Peterson - not coming here building a championship caliber team in the PAC nothing Shaw - already said no thanks Fleck - maybe a good get but my big problem with this guy is would he be able to recruit down here? He has very little/no ties to Louisiana or the south
More of a summary of the times than a feeling. I'm at the point that I just can't wait for baseball season.
