These are the same fans that are screaming for O to hire an OC yesterday and calling the wait a cluster.
Screw Herman. I'm not so sure he is even worth the trouble. The thing about the next big name coach is we don't know his name yet. The other problem is we didn't try to find out.
It Its called transition. Just two weeks ago the Trump transition was being slammed as a total cluster. Now it appears to be the most amazing transition ever. O is still putting his staff together, give him a second to put it together.
I suppose my criticism (so far) has much more to do with Alleva, who should've been shown the door last November after that ridiculous non-firing of Miles. We should've cast a wider net, though. Fisher? I'm not sure why Alleva was so set on him (twice). Herman may be great, and it may be too soon to tell. But why not interview Rodriguez, Holgerson, Gundy, Fleck, Fedora? Why not actually make Shaw or Peterson tell you no? We basically went out and hired a guy that had not seriously sniffed a head coaching job in a decade. It seemed like an extreme knee-jerk reaction, but of course, Alleva is synonymous with jerk, so there is that.
This is the part I don't understand....why fire les 4 games in to get a early start and produce nothing but ed orgeron???? I don't mean that disrespectful but kind of do considering his record as a head coach. It's clear that the committee of one effed this up beyond belief. I would have hired outside of the current staff and would have been far more aggressive to get him, even driving Texas up north of 6 mil. If I didn't get him I'd look at someone else who has been successful, like fleck or even Jeff brohm or a coordinator like Lincoln riley. What about Greg roman??? You can substitute a lot of names if you don't like this list but we'll never know cause as far as we know there was no interest in finding out if they or anyone other than jimbo was interested.
I think everyone agrees there could have been a more extensive search, however with all the weeks of debate i still haven't heard the name of a single legitimate candidate that would have been a lesser risk.
It is fair...I was surprised. I thought he ego wouldn't let him stoop to a FAU type job but maybe it would hurt his ego more working under his old assisitant. But I suspect had Kiffin not been at Bama this year and in the playoffs then he would likley be here. But I see this as an opportunity to get a more longer tenured replacement in here.
