Yeah come on down Lane and try to convince the QBs we are recruiting that your heart is in your job as an OC for LSU and convince them you will be their OC and QB coach a year or two later. Bad hire for us Lane stay the fuck away!

Three years at #1 Alabama, college playoffs, a possible NC, turning a frosh QB into All-American caliber couldn't get LK a job but one year at LSU will? I think it's going to take more than one year for him to grow up and rehabilitate his image.

I get what you are saying but which of the "Kiffin to...." stories were actually viable? They could have been floated by his agent, by a wannabe blogger, by the schools looking to hook bigger fish. I haven't seen one peep out of Kiffin other than alleged surprise that he didn't get the Houston job.

It's one thing to be Nickie's minion but operating more independently and responsibly under O would speak more positively to his loyalty and maturity. Lane's weakness is his lack of maturity and discipline...working under Saban's tight leash show nothing about his change if any in these. He needs to show he can do it without the wrath of Nick hanging over him. Working with and supporting O loyally a couple of years would help IMO. Either that or he's such a douche that he'll never get a HC job.

I didn't realize the question was that difficult.

None I don't think, which is why the "last choice" opinion is sort of invalid.

I hope we get somebody good. Canada seems pretty intriguing; pros are he works for defensive minded HCs and runs a power based offense that respects TOP. Many call his play calling innovative. Prefer this to Kiffen, Sarkesian, and Helfridge. I posted a link to other top OCs elsewhere; there are more than a few good choices. I hate waiting on Kiffen and have doubts on how good he really is.

If Kiffen falls through, Canada seems like a decent get.
Has anyone wondered why Alabama didn't extend Kiffen's contract? Off-field antics?
