Go with "Dirty Kirby"... tons of people and it went coed in 2002. Second choice would be the Laville's but the guys their are usually douchebags.
Man, it really sounds like Residential Housing has changed since I was at LSU ('88-'92). I lived in East Laville (there WERE no co-ed dorms then), Basement #10, I think, for my first three years. ELV dry? Geez, back in the day, we had keggers all of the time at East and West. Do they still have Wild as the West Weekend? That was three solid days of drunken revelry. I was president of RHA in '90, and I remember meeting with the vice-chancellor (along with some fraternity council members) and convincing him that it was a GOOD idea for students to drink on campus, so that we had less drunk driving. It worked.
I have noticed driving through campus that a lot of the old dorms are gone. The days when guys lived in the stadium used to be great fun on game days.
um, no. Kirby Smith is still just guys. There are some cool guys in the Laville's, but the nerdy ones are the ones that seem to stand out the most.
No mention of Power Hall? That was the place to be back in the early 90's. Now instead of that palace, they have some crappy on-campus apartments. Oh wait. Gota that backwards. It was the crappy Power Hall that was knocked down and replaced by some really nice apts. Ah, I remember those days well. Playing in a beach volleyball tourney behind the dorm for a keg of beer. And sponsored by the dorm, too. Geaux Hall 5!!!
I lived in Highland hall room 17, down in the basement. Highland is easily the best dorm on campus when combing the size of the rooms and the social aspect. I remember one time a guy down the hall named "Toughman" had a full keg in his room and the RAs confiscated it because he was 18. He called the cops and the cops made the RA return the keg. Another time Toughman cut his foot on some broken glass and gave himself stitches with kite string.
