well I will be yelling the whole game I yelled the whole game at the atlanta game and so did everyone around me. If the corporate people get mixed in by the band and the students- they will yell. My boss told me he sat by the band and they stood up and yelled the whole time he said. You put anybody by the band or the students, and they will end up yelling and doing cheers with the rest of the group. You can't help it, its contagious!
Tiger fans are extremely loyal and persistent, passionate. Remember where the game is: New Orleans, La. LSU fans will get tickets.....believe me. "Politics", the "Mafia", huge petro-chemical/industrial corporatations and refineries between B.R. and N.O. like Exxon, Shell, Texaco, The Seafood Industry, the "Convention Connections" New Orleans has, The Hotel/Motel giants in New Orleans, etc.........These ARE THE CORPORTATIONS that grabbed or will "deal" for them. There are Tiger fans all over and they pull wieght. It all comes down to $$$, and LSU fans are willing and ABLE to pay (or coerce-something we are known for....Remember Huey Long!?!!) huge sums or "favors" for tickets. Although it is considered a "poor" state, don't kid yourself. Louisiana has always been one of the wealthiest states in the country. Go to any ski resort out west and ask the locals where and from what state do they get the most business!! Don't worry about the % of LSU fans and reduced noise levels in the Dome. The Saints consistently have the worst football team and the best attendance records. I don't remember what game it was this year, but on national t.v. the sportscasters displayed "How loud is loud?" marquis before LSU game. An acoustics/sound scientist measured decibel level of Tiger Fans and it was at or near Jet Airplane taking off. Remember the retarded body movements of the Arkansas and then Gerogia punters just before we blocked their punts????!!!!!!!!! How about the Florda Game in 1997 when the noise got soo loud it was like "continuous WHITE NOISE" and the Florida players looked "DRUNK". Each play 1, 2 or even 3 of their players were getting injured in the 4th quarter. They were not "ready" as no one can be for the psychological/biological/emotional effect of LSU's predominately "french", cajun, impassioned fan makeup!! Make no mistake, LSU's fans and their energy will start making national news well before the game even begins. It will be a media event unlike any other ever witnessed in the sports world. Do not worry about the biased media either. They will love us and convert when they hit New Orleans. There will be enormous coverage and will be astonished at the hospitatlity they recieve in Louisiana. The News Media will be fighting to get down here when the "word/film" starts getting out. The Networks will start sending more film crews when they realize the media event that is unfolding. It will be like a UFO landed and is giving rides/tours. This country is very ignorant about life in South Louisiana and when they are exposed to the truth they are going to love it, us and then LSU forever!!!! The sound/noise WILL EFFECT Oklahoma and will cause false starts, communication problems, poor handoffs and a general "rattled" sooner player and coaching staff, which will (as it always has/does for games not nearly this important) cause problems/errors that can/will make a significant difference which will be documented and get press/sportscaster attention.
I'm sure the crowd noise will be a positive thing for LSU, but OU has played before loud crowds before. Yes, it will probably cause some problems, but I do not expect it to decide the game. The plays on teh field will do that. I think it will be a great game that could go either way. As far as no loud crowds in teh Big XII, go to Kyle Field at College Station or Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. They are extremely loud. However, the loudest crowd does not mean an automatic victory.
Well I for one, didnt say that, I just said it would cause problems. Soonerbird has no clue. Bottom line, we are the loudest you will ever experience.
Ambrose: Sooner fans are also extremely loyal and presistent and passionate. Do you think that Sooner fans aren't hyped about this game also.....I saw somewhere on a thread that LSu had 30,000 ticket request for their allotment of 17,000 tickets...OU had 65,000 ticket request for their allotment of 17,000 tickets. I think to say that you will have a distinct home field advantage Is going a little far....Sure we will be out numbered but not enough to say that It will matter. That being said crowd noise will have nothing to do with this ballgame....Do you think that OU has never played an away big game? In 2000 OU played fsu in Miami and from what I could tell over 50% of the crowd was rooting for the Sooners! Not being hollier than thou but I think OU feeds off all the negative energy that is placed on them. May the best team win! We're gonna party likes it 2000, 85, 75, 74, 55, 56, 50! GO SOONERS! GOOD LUCK TIGERS!
You know . . . no self respecting Tiger fan would allow a Sooner fan (or any fan for that matter) come on this board and start telling us how they will beat the hell out of us, or be louder than LSU fans, or that their team is simply the better team. I don't expect any different from self respecting Sooner fans on their own board. That said, I haven't been to the Sooner. But it can't be any worse than the SC boards as far as disrespect goes. This Sugar Bowl is going to be one hell of a game. Regardless of what ESPN thinks, the best game this bowl season will be Okla/LSU. Two of the best defenses with two of the best coaches from two of the strongest conferences will be lining up looking to play for the NC. I don't think either team will freeze up and play scared. I do feel LSU will have an advantage, but I expect the Sooners to bring everything they have. Sure this isn't smack talk, or an over confident prediction, but Okla/LSU will be an exciting hard fought game between class programs.
I never said that the "Noise" will decide the game. However, you and many others have said it will be close. In very close games, one or two plays.............a turnover, penalty, etc can make the difference. That is where the "sound, noise, emotion" CAN be huge. Count on the noise to screw up several OK plays, especially if they are crucial plays. You are probably not aware (although you are fixing to become) of LSU fan noise "registering an EARTHQUAKE" after touchdown against Auburn. This is well known and was documented on the Richter Scale (not exactly sure the magnitude but it was NOT A SMALL ONE.....7.9 I believe). You, nor Oklahoma football program, has ever experienced a game environment and emotion of this magnitude. College football is greatly influenced by EMOTION, this is why it is more interesting than professional. Since you and many others expect a "close" game, and no one will refute EMOTION as being a paramount factor, and everyone who has EXPERIENCED LSU's fans/environment will hands down admitt that there is NOTHING THAT COMES CLOSE, accept the fact that this is a home game for LSU and it most definitely can/will be a determining factor in LSU winning. If the game was played in a vacumn, many believe LSU can win this game. Unfortunately for OK, and what is becoming evident from your posts, the game is in New Orleans and Oklahoma is worried about many things..............Legendary Fan noise of "Earth" rattling proportion. You, and the rest of the nation, will see/hear and never forget. New rules may be put in place when OK is unable to communicate and "get" plays off. It will be enacted due to the potential for injuries which I mentioned before.
HMmmm! 7.9! I believe thats larger than the quakes that have hit Cally recently and brought down builldings and highways! I hope the roof doesn't cave in! Just funnin! Good smack!
I will not agree that you are an a$$hole. Not at all. You just have unrealistic expectations. This game will not be played in the north endzone of Death Valley and even if it was it wouldnt make any difference to the OU offense. The corporate bigwigs and the politicians in all the good seats at the dome are not going to be screaming so much. They are just going to sit there and watch. I know the LSU fans and students will make some noise but so will the 25,000 OU fans and students. Should be fun. Sorry if I offended you.
I'm from Oklahoma and OU is/was my 2nd fav. team, but this Sooner a$$holes on this board and others are making me hate the Sooners.
