I was at the Independence Bowl last year. I sat on the Ole Miss side for most of the game, but walked over to the other side to meet with my brother in law in the 4th. Nebraska's crowd wasn't real big and they certainly weren't loud. But they were at least as bitter as any sports fans I have ever been around. They were cussing out their own players and basically acting as if the guys on the sideline had robbed them of their collective life savings and gotten their daughters pregnant in the meantime. Needless to say, I wasn't shocked that Solich got the axe. Those folks have NO sense of reality.

I was also on the Ole Miss side, but we had some Nebraska fans sitting directly behind us. They were also badmouthing the entire team, especially Lord, the QB. I guess when so many of them have been surrounded by winning they don't understand what a true fan acts like.

Been on the sideline for a Saints game

I've been on the field during Saints games, and the noise level was pretty significant during close games. Domes are generally louder than open stadiums, b/c they 'trap' the noise.

Noise has never been a problem to an Oklahoma team. They play from the shotgun and all signals are hand signals. And, if you think the Red River Shootout is not loud, it is obvious that you have never experienced an OU/Texas game. So, guys, think up another reason. The Sooners will not be intimidated.

The Red River Shootout is a joke. Its not loud. Texas fans are not loud, and OU fans are not loud.

The sound threshold for pain is 125 decibels. A rock concert maxes out around 135 decibels ... and leaves you deaf as a post. The roar of a jet aircraft can measure 150, blast your eardrums and fry your auditory canal. You'd go deaf in an instant and the force of the sound would liquefy your bowels, and kill you in a puddle of your own diarrhea.

The good doctor has a good point ... and it gets wild in close games when the Saints with 65K+ fans get excited ... it hits near 120 db. Pro players complain regularly of headaches following the games.

    THE BIG QUESTION IS ...

Can 40-50K LSU fans (75%) MAINTAIN ENOUGH PROLONGED SCREAMING TO KEEP THE db level where OU cannot hear and give White serious problems ...

this should be somewhere over 100 db ...

    I HOPE LSU CAN ...

as this will be a huge advantage and will disorient Mr. White ...

Mr. White runs like old people phffhuck ... slow and jerky

And, pass it on to those going ... bring a set of ear plugs for the children ... and pop a few aspirin before the game and the ...

    YELLATHON ...

Stay very hydrated .... water down that alcohol well.

    Obtain maximum YELLING POWER.

Perhaps the Doc here has a few other health suggestions

I prefer the I-be-pukin over the aspirin for a little PM prior to the game. The Dome will be extremely loud. The Illinois game in '01 was oainfullly loud at several junctures. You can hand signal all you want to your receivers, but the O-line needs to know about any changes. It becomes difficult to concentrate with all the noise.

Anticipate a larger LSU crowd. OU will be represented, but not nearly like Illinois was in '01. The corporate tix will be going out largely to the LSU side. Good thing the OU uni's are crimson. Helps hide the blood stains from all the ruptured ear drums.

Too bad LSU only allocated 2,000 tickets for students. Nobody hollers louder. I hope they put them close to the field at least.
