1.
  2. I disagree here.
No one probably loves LSU sports better than I but at some point you have to stop drinking the kool aid and face reality.
What I mean by this is that I don't like CLM's comments about being undefeated in regulation.
It reminds me to much of Pete Carroll and makes me want to puke.

Reality is that we lost 2 games in OT this year, there is no coincidence in losing both in OT as some of you have read from my other posts btw.
The way I see it you play by the rules or you are like Pete Carroll and USC.

We aren't undefeated, period, sorry but after some of the recent comments from some including coaches, it sounds like excuses and I don't like the sound of things around LSU football the last week or so.
The sky aint fallin but there is too much of this going on right now!

I also have to wonder if there is a coach out there that could've taken this same LSU team and lost only one game this season versus two or went undefeated with this talented team.
To put it bluntly, there has to be a reason our defense or team went from playing like a well oiled machine the first half of the season to the way they did the second half.
I don't believe there are any good excuses for it however.

Btw Since you brought up the schedule issue, I fail to see just how tough our schedule has been.
We ONLY played one extra team from our normal schedule, most games were at home.
Was our schedule that much tougher than Florida, Georgia or Auburn?
I don't think so, too much kool aid.

Edit: Will our schedule be tougher next year when we have more road games?
    2 people like this.
  3. Maybe the AP will give us a trophy for this accomplishment.
  4. I understand what you're saying, but I really think there was a motive behind his assertion that LSU is undefeated in regulation. You could tell he was uncomfortable talking about it, almost as if he didn't believe what he was saying. But the intent was to get a bump in the human polls, I believe. Not to persuade the masses in some whiny fashion that we're undefeated. Which is the way it came off.
  5. Alright, Gentlemen, then NAME ME ONE TEAM THAT WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER THAN WE DID WITH OUR SCHEDULE, and, please explain your opinion.

I'm interested in your thoughts on this.

Don't say Georgia, because they lost to South Carolina in regulation. Don't say Auburn, because they lost to Miss State. Don't say Florida because they have 3 losses.

I'd like as many of you as possible to take a moment to answer.
  6. I don't think any team could have done better, and certainly in the SEC, no other team did. As far as I am concerned, we are 10-0-2 (how I long for the days when games ended in ties, but that's fodder for another thread).

The SEC is the best and toughest conference. Any team can win on any given day. All the teams we played came with their "A" game (maybe not Miss St), and there was extra motivation in that we were ranked #1 or #2 most of the year. Did luck play into some of our wins -- sure -- sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

My main concern is with our defense, although we're still #3 in total defense even after the Ole Miss and Arky games. I truly think a combination of injuries and easing off the aggressive play hurt. On offense, even though we have tended to start out slowly in most games, we have proved that we can put up some points.

I hope we come out fired up to whip UT and put the disappointment of last week behind us!

    :geauxtige
  7. Sorry but I can't name one.:)
  8. You make it sound as if we fielded demigods and nobody else would dare to play our schedule. There are plenty of teams that might have done better with our schedule(I assume you don't mean only the SEC), up to and including us. We very easily could have lost a few more games, or won the two we lost, or even perhaps had a few more blow outs. However, to hypothesize based upon our schedule, talent, coaching, in retrospect of the season just played, you must also allow that other some other teams may have done as well or better than we did.

It's all hypothetical. To make a statement like yours implies that we really do have more talent than anyone else in the country. I don't believe that and yearly recruiting rankings do not support that either. That's just media BS and gives our opponents yet another weapon to attack us with at the end of the year. We have a great team, but there are other great teams in the country and to my knowledge, few of them have played to their potential this year, week in and week out. Look at the recruits of Tenn., Texas, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma...the list goes on. Gee, none of them have talent on their team. They all do, and if they replayed their last season, they would likely have different outcomes as well.

Think about this thread next year, when our schedule becomes exponentially harder.

  9. You have 8 home games.............8. Are you kidding me? You play Troy, Tulame, and North Texas plus with one still open spot I'd say the chances are at this late in the game it will have to be filled with a total cupcake or even worse a Div 1AA. This season's schedule was WAY tougher.
  10. And in 2003 USC was kept out of the title game because we lost ONE game.........in 3OT's...........on the road.............to a conference rival. As I've been told, that's the way it goes.
