With those attributes, JJ could be an all star caliber beer vendor.

Scouts view him as having enough athletic talent and potential upside for a team to take a shot at in the later rounds, and that's a reasonable investment IF he has good coaching and turns his attitude around. If he ends up washing out in training camp, then it's not a huge waste of a draft pick.

:geaux: That about sums it up. That fact that I will NEVER see JJ in an LSU uniform ever again makes me happy. :thumb: The future of Tiger football is bright indeed. :LSU231:

Stretch the field my a$$ he overthrew everybody. He might have a strong arm but his accuracy at long distance is horrible. At the Manning Camp I thought is was just because he was throwing to High School WR, but he really can't hit that long pass. Now RGIII on the other hand can drop the 80 yard pass in a bucket. Now that is something you have to respect. JJ not so much. There is NO and I mean NO Pro CB that are afraid of anything JJ can do. I am just glad he no longer plays for us.

well you saw the tackle JJ put on big LB CJ Mosley, leaving Mosley on the ground writhing in pain, waving his arm for the Bama medical staff to come help him, and getting Dre Kirkpatrick so upset that a coach had to drag him off the field... so I'd say a Pro CB might fear something like that

as for no Pro CB fearing JJ's passing ability, you could say that about every QB in the country not named Brees, Brady, Rodgers or Peyton Manning, and nobody is suggesting JJ will be a future NFL Hall of Fame QB

Jefferson is definitely a NFL-caliber athlete . . . big, strong, fast and agile. It is his mental agility that will limit him. He's not quick enough on the read and the decision. Not in the SEC and not in the NFL. But he may be an effective arm in camp for some team's practice squad. It's a foot in the door.

JJ reminds me of Tarvaris Jackson, who, after 1,053 passing attempts in 51 games in the NFL, has 38 TDs to 35 INTs, and a career QB rating of 77.8, which is #28 among all active NFL QBs (and better than Mark Sanchez, Alex Smith, Vince Young, Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, Kerry Collins, Chad Henne, Rex Grossman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, etc etc)

Tarvaris Jackson was taken in the 2nd Round of the 2006 Draft, which was surprising because he was projected to go in the 4th-7th rounds. One of the things the Vikings were impressed about him was his workout at the Combine (among the top-5 quarterbacks in ball speed and 40 yard dash). Vikings coach Brad Childress was quoted days before the draft as saying he was interested in finding a "developmental guy", a "diamond in the rough" quarterback of the future, raw talent he could teach a system. And after the Draft, he said: "When you see what you want at the quarterback position, you need to go get it. And that's exactly what I see with Tarvaris Jackson is a guy that's a piece of clay...he's athletic...I think he's a flatline guy. I think he's a sponge...So what can he do with [more] coaching?"

compare how Tarvaris Jackson and Jordan Jefferson did at the Combine, Jefferson did better in every category:

    Height/Weight
    6-2, 226--Tarvaris Jackson
    6-4, 223--Jordan Jefferson

    40 yard dash
    4.69--Tarvaris Jackson
    4.65--Jordan Jefferson

    225 Lb. Bench Reps
    NA--Tarvaris Jackson
    14--Jordan Jefferson

    Vertical Jump
    31.5--Tarvaris Jackson
    36.5--Jordan Jefferson

    Broad Jump
    08'11"--Tarvaris Jackson
    09'08"--Jordan Jefferson

    20 yard shuttle
    4.40--Tarvaris Jackson
    4.06--Jordan Jefferson

    3 Cone Drill
    7.41--Tarvaris Jackson
    6.81--Jordan Jefferson

you can't teach physical ability, but you can teach a guy to get better at making reads, etc. JJ is what, 21 years old? give him 5 years of NFL caliber coaching and experience and then see what he can do.

as for practice squad, by all accounts JJ is one of the best QBs in practice out there, impressed everybody at the Manning academy, impressed everybody at practice for the Senior All-Star game he was in, and impressed in practice at the Combine. he'd be a great guy to have on your practice squad

"The way the ball came out of his hand while he was throwing to receivers on Sunday also reminded scouts of arm strength that can stretch defenses in a vertical attack."

LOL! Funny! Like JJ stretching the 'Bama D in the BCSNCG? I am sorry, but--physical attributes notwithstanding--when is JJ going to unleash these attributes in a consistent and dependable fashion in the NFL? Who will give him the time to do so?

    Thanks for posting!
