Personally, it's Hatch's to lose. With even more Jr and Sr wideouts coming into next season, and the fact that Trindon and Keiland will be on the cusp of leaving, I see Crowton and CLM taking advantage of what he has- and putting the brains in the driver's seat. I think it's like a ricer (heavily modded Japanese car). Sure, a ricer may be annoying and have a smaller engine, but those computers sure make that thing run a lot better than slapping a big 355 in there, huh? Trim the fat, and all that.
Really so Sheppard the second coming to the game of college football is gonna sit out for 2 years????? NO WAY IN HELL! IF and thats a HUGE IF...Lee starts next season thats it for him because in 2010 this will be Sheppards team to lead!
Shepard is the 2nd coming in the fans eyes. Who knows what the coaches think and how he will adjust. It seems like Coach Miles likes to go with experience which leads me to believe we will be playing more than one QB like we have the past two years. And if Shepard is in that rotation it seems like it will be in more of a RP '07 type of role.
If Lee beats JJ and Shep next year for the start and does well, why would you assume he won't do it as a junior with yet another year's worth of games under his belt? I can understand if you don't think he will start next year, but I don't get your scenario for the following year. Are you using OSU as an example?
I going out on a limb and say it will be JJ starting being backed up by Hatch or could be the other way around. Hatch has a good head but his lack of arm strenght is hurting him. JJ showed more improvement in 1 1/2 games than Lee did all season and that is something Miles will have to deal with. Shepard will be great(hopefully) but I dont see him playing next year or Miles may rotate him with JJ. Either way I don't see Lee staying.
Scout and Rivals don't even think Shep is the best recruit in the nation this year (they both give that honor to Southern Cal QB recruit Matt Barkley), much less the "second coming." Besides, plenty of the QBs rated as highly as Shep is over the years by Rivals and Scout have turned out to not be that special in college.
We have to get away from this two QB bull chit. Lee Can't run Hatch can't throw JJ does em both, he wins as long as he continues to progress. The other two really made no progress since they have been here. Hatch hasn't really done anything wrong, other than just not have the ability, but you can't teach him arm strength. Lee has just, well, we all know what he has done. JJ, while not a polished passer, has a great arm, apears to see the game as it's happening, and has great running ability. If he improves the accuracy the other two have no chance IMO.
I dont look at Lee making much progression from where he is now, I just dont see it. Sheppard looks like that type of player that only comes along ever so often and I just dont see being able to keep his talent on the bench for 1 year let alone 2. Reguardless of who starts next season Lee or JJ I think they lose that starting job to Sheppard in '10.
