Why would you want that? I thought Lee played poorly but we still need depth at that position. I still think Lee gives LSU a better chance than Hatch to win games.
I agree. The picks is a mental thing. Now he may or may not get it solved, I don't know, but kids usually get better with another years age and playing experience. He SHOULD get better. We're thin at the position, and I hope he stays with .
Standfast, young charger. I don't think anyone has earned anything yet. My original post clearly states that unless JJ has an amazing bowl game throwing the football, I think it's a shootout between JJ and Lee. IMO, Hatch had a chance this year because of JJ's youth and Shep was still in HS. Hatch's biggest asset was his maturity knowledge of the offense. Next year, I seriously doubt Hatch will be able to bring anything to the table that would leap him over JJ. And if Shep is what he appears to be and Lee doesn't transfer, Hatch may be number 4 on the depth chart. I'm not one to dog Hatch's arm - I think he's got enough arm to compete. I just don't think he can compete with those guys. Just an opinion. My gut tells me JJ has an OK bowl game, but not great. Lee and JJ battle it out in the Spring. And the depth chart is Lee, JJ, Shep, Hatch against Washington, with Lee and JJ flipping depending on Spring training and fall practice.
I didnt say I wanted that I just said what is gonna happen. With Sheppard coming in LESS THEN 30 days, and JJ looking like the best option to fill the spot in Crowtons offense Lee is **** out of luck, if the kid wants to see playing time ever again he needs to transfer to a school that he can help.
I'd say the LSU QB spot is as open as any in the country right now and unless JJ has some miracle transformation in the few weeks leading up to the bowl game it should stay wide open going into spring ball. If absolutely no one has earned the starting position how can you say Lee has no shot? I think JJ looks better right now but not that much better and an entire off season for all the QB's to improve. Lee looked pitiful this year, but it was his mental game not his physical ability that was holding him back. It's waaaay too early to count anyone out in this QB race.
If Lee wants to be the starter he needs to learn how to read and avoid a pass rush, and quickly. With the starters we lose on the OL, the QB is probably gonna have to do a lot more scrambling, and that's something JJ can do very well, while Lee has limited mobility, at best.
Lets see the kid has been BOOED off the field...even IF he was to start this year its a one year thing because if Sheppard isnt playing QB by the end of next year he WILL be the starter in 2 years...Dont we also have a recruit coming in from Mississippi ALSO. There is no chance for Lee to play after this coming season so his future at LSU is short reguardless from a personal stand point he would be better off transferring!
I think Lee has a long way to go in getting his confidence back. Maybe the time between seasons will heal but I think hs was so shell shocked that he was trying to hard not to make mistakes...and did anyway.
