I was going to say I'm surprised you didn't know Maurice had died, then you topped that with not knowing Andy died. lol
I think what he meant was that Bill didn't seem like a good guy to Dana, but I also don't think that anyone would argue with your statement.
What I meant was...there was supposed to be a civil "head coach in waiting" program there at WVU and Holgersen got caught being drunk, and apparently obnoxious at a casino. Not good. But then the press was reporting all kinds of stuff that just wasn't true. It turns out that Stewart and his wife were slandering Holgersen through media friends who were reporting stuff that they said. They were fanning the flames. And the next thing you know, Oliver Luck fired Stewart. When the media reports were found out to be exaggerated and false, they were traced back to the Stewart camp. Oliver Luck is a great GM and he would have fired Holgersen if all the stuff that made the news was true.
But It is too bad that Bill Stewart died. The last stuff that happened at WVU should not define him. His legacy should be about all the lives he touched while coaching a game he loved. Another example of how the "head coach in waiting" concept is a utopian ideal...and not how the real world works.
