Jerry Romig has died. Former Superdome PA announcer and "Voice of the Saints" for 44 years. Definitely a celebrity in the eyes of Saints fans.

Meadowlark Lemon died today. He personally dumped a bucket of confetti on me when I was a kid.

    Sad clown face.

I saw the Trotters in the Dome in the Meadowlark, Curley, Geese days; was probably their first appearance in the Superdome. During warmups, Lemon stood off by himself and started bombing those 2-handed hook shots from half court. Just awesome. Went on YouTube last night, and was very disappointed to see how little video of them there was from those days....I mean, the late 60s, early 70s were their Golden Age.

I video'd them when they played in Houma about 15 years ago, and they pulled me on the court and did the "Hi! We watch you all the time!" bit with me. It was great, but I could have done without the wedgie when they grabbed me.

My dad took me a few times when they were in town. I remembered that through an NBA connection, John Barnhill, they agreed to play at the high school by me. In trying to find something about it online, I came across this funny although unrelated video.

Check out Jay Bilas, lol. He's in there quite a bit, including the shower scene, under the far right nozzle.

Doug Atkins, Hall of Fame defensive end, died today at age 85. Atkins made his name in the late 50's and 60's with the Bears, but ended his career as an original Saint. He had 21st century size for a lineman 40 years before anyone else. Take a look....

Wayne Rogers, who played Trapper John on TV's M*A*S*H, has died of pneumonia. Cannot believe he was 82.
