I had never heard of coaches wives recruiting until I heard an interview with Frank Wilson last week. He said the he had a solid relationship with Leonard Fournette and that Fournette was commited to LSU from the beginning but that Fournette's mother had developed a pretty good friendship with Terri Saban and the Alabama RB coaches wife. He had to get his wife and Kathy Miles involved to seal the deal. If Lane Kiffin's wife recruited me I would go to Alabama
thats a ufc girl. tosh used her as a fake layla kiffin in his show. chrissy blair. at least the two on the ends. i dont know who the chick in the middle is. this is his wife. much older but only slightly chilly.
Coaches wives help with the recruiting, it gives the kids a family feeling. B J Arnsparger help sign more players than Bill did, she was a perfect Mom/ Grandmother. A buddy of mine signed Dave LaFleur out of Westlake, his daughter only called him "Big Dave." Dave was one of the more down to earth guys you'd ever meet. Dave had a Ford truck, floor shifter, Country Music on every cassette tape. Yep, coaches have to sell themselves, so do the wives.
If he hadn't had a contentious relationship with Brodhead, we might have hired Spurrier who wanted the job. We would have won a Natty in '87 and maybe another before Spurrier left for his Alma Mater. We could have been in a better position to hire someone and I wouldn't have had to suffer through the 90's.
I don't think it was his relationship with Brodhead. Brodhead had quit and Arnsparger wanted the AD job but LSU hired Joe Dean instead. Spurrier still did come to Baton Rouge for an interview. The way I heard it was that somebody told him to go to T.J. Ribs and somebody would pick him up when the Board of Supervisors had gotten together. The BOS in the meantime with the prompting of cheapskate Dean hired Mike Archer and nobody ever showed up at T.J.'s to pick up the Ole Ball Coach. That's why he got such a kick out of running up scores like 58-3 and 56-13 on the Tigers. It should have been the other way around.
