Nick's son is already in high school...In fact, he transferred from Catholic High School to University High...I think he'll be a senior next year... Hmmm...
Just curious as to why some people think that Jimbo has what it takes to be a HEAD coach at this level just because he is an assistant to Nick Saban. I guess I have seen, not only in coaching but other jobs as well, that some people just are not next level material. Maybe some of you have more insight here but, would this talk be going on if he were an assistant at one of the other major schools and there was an opening at LSU.
I dont think his kids will be the deciding factor on his decision. Look at how many times he has moved in the past and what age his kids were then. No time is a good time for kids to move but it hasnt stoped him in the past. Once the Bowls are over and the NFL season ends, this will be fully put to rest. With Fisher, if Nick does move on, its the comfort of knowing he is already deep into the program and familiar with LSU that has fans mentioning his name. Its natural for fans to want one of the assistants to take over when a coach moves on. It happens everywhere especially when one is as highly thought of as Jimbo.
I disagree with you Tiger fan 2001, If you look at the history, at least in college. Most cordinators do become head coaches in college at one time or another. Some are successful and some aren't. Mike and Bob Stoops, Nick Saban, etc were some that were cordinators. I don't think it happens quite as much in the pros but here goes: Mike Shanahan, Mike Holmgren, Andy Reid, and John Gruden were all in San Francisco at one point.
If Jimbo Fisher is the next head football coach of the LSU Tigers we will be in for a LONG ride. This man is a great QB coach but is average at best when it comes to offensive play calling. He will have to pay his dues as a head coach somewhere else before he lands a big div 1a job, IMO. LSU will only hire a proven head coach from here on out. Our program is at a level where we should expect the best and settle for nothing less than than such. Maybe Jimbo will be that coach one day down the road but no time soon.

Maybe even help him win 30% TO 50% More games. Is it any wonder he wants to stay around Nick and learn everything he can by him? If Jimbo can put the knowledge Nick has given him to use. the sky's the limit.
I agree with the points you are trying to make I am just wondering why it is that some poeple think Jimbo is the next Nick Saban. I agree with the statements by crawfish. And I do believe that IF a coaching job does come up we should see what's out there and who want's to come to LSU Remember Archer
Just something to think about. The Saints might be coach hunting after the season. Not too big a move geographically, so he wouldn't have to uproot the family.
No, the Saints problem isnt the coach.........and I have heard nothing about the Saints looking for a new coach. Saban is going to stay at LSU.......
