Not so. Baseball players don't get drafted until after their Junior year.

After high school or after their Jr year (or it might be an age, which was Fontenot's case i think)

Safe to say....we should not be worried about our QB depth for the next 5 years

We should watch out for transfers though.....I expect someone will want to leave if not two people

I'm worred about our depth right now....if we lose JR and Flynn (very possible), we'll be left with 1 scholarship QB on the roster, and he's a true freshman that is prone to running around in traffic.

Just thought everybody would like to know that he is only 16 years old. He will graduate in DEC. and enroll in JAN.

Just three years ago we had seven quarterbacks on the spring roster including incoming freshmen. By August we had four because the other three transferred or quit football. If you are in your third year and still aren't in the top three, you will most likely transfer. A Parade All-American will not likely play as a reserve for more than a year before he will transfer to find playing time.

Flynn might stick it out for a chance to start as a senior, but I just don't see Russell or Perrilloux being content with a backup role in 2006.

    Potential scenario A . . .
2005 -- sophomore Russell starts, frosh Perrilloux backs up, sophomore Flynn is a reserve, Cade redshirts.
2006 -- junior Russell starts, Perrilloux transfers, junior Flynn backs up, frosh Cade is a reserve.
2007 -- Russell goes pro, senior Flynn starts, sophomore Cade backs up.
2008 -- Flynn graduates, junior Cade starts

    Potential scenario B . . .
2005 -- freshman Perrilloux starts, sophomore Russell backs up, sophomore Flynn is a reserve, Cade redshirts.
2006 -- Perrilloux starts, junior Russell transfers, junior Flynn backs up, frosh Cade is a reserve.
2007 -- Perrilloux starts, senior Flynn backs up, sophomore Cade is a reserve.
2008 -- Perrilloux goes pro, Flynn graduates, junior Cade starts

Cate will only be 17 when he arrives at LSU and will probably redshirt to gain size and experience. By the time he's ready for the SEC as a redshirt sophomore, at least one and maybe both of the Parade All-Americans are gone. And LSU might not be as deep as we thought we were. Miles needs to sign another QB this year plus another very good one in 2007.
