didnt arizona just vote english as their official language 3:1? Interesting for a mexican border state. Looks like the people were sending a message with such a wide disparity.

I guess this can be handled on a statewide basis. capisce?

i think we all agree with that. like supa said, it is a good idea to learn english and not a bad idea for anglophones to learn spanish. i have been slowly learning spanish for years. because, like you are about to say, we have a melting pot here. the latin influence is melting into my tasty western european anglo stew. it needed some flavor.

i hear ya kajun kenny. i have only really met one true french cajun guy, and the way he spoke was fascinating. i couldnt really understand him at all, all half-french and a nutty accent, it was really pretty awesome, i wish i could speak some awesome obscure language.

different cultures and languages are fine by me.

free speech alley can get tough man, but i think you will be ok. as you know, it is my opinion that people can get bogged down and stuck in the mindset of the culture of their birth, and that is often a mistake. i think that is an important thing to think about, and and entirely appropriate topic for free speech alley.

Well my accent is crazy, I wish I could lose it a little. Altho the women in other states seem to LOVE it. I have even had women from like the phone company, insurance company etc ask me about my accent. A few have said it's "sexy".

I speak a little cajun french, altho I can easily understand a conversation, I can't really chat in french as it's hard to form sentences. I also understand a little spanish, german and japanese... I by no means feel like I am Bi-lingual. Just picked some stuff up along the way.

Honestly, I can tell who on this board has had a quality education just by there post. I never finished college. I can do math with anyone. I read probally more then anyone here. I average about 4 books a week. Mostly Tom Clancy or poker books but also a few "best sellers" that catch my fancy. However, as you may have noticed, my typing/grammer/spelling etc really sux. My ex had a master of english lit from a top school in Detroit. She hated the way I typed her emails or even spoke to her. One of her pet peeves is that I say "aks" instead of "ask". I do believe that the accent is one of the reasons I hooked her in tho. One thing I know for sure tho <offtopic> Them irish chicks are awesome in bed, plus they can really party </offtopic>

Anyways, I seriously think I am bringing my accent to like belize or something. This country is going to crap in a hand basket... Home of the free my ass, People in NK are gonna have more freedoms then us in a few years.. but atleast we are going to have a good economy/ unemployment rate etc..etc while the rest of the world thinks we are some pussies aka AU/Bama fans :)
