New OC is the biggest hire at LSU since Dinardo blew it hiring Lou Tepper

Why wouldn't we run the ball with our talented stable of running backs? Florida was pass first because their best runner was a backup QB!

In the beginning of the year we were banged up and inexperienced at running back, and it cost us two games. Against Florida we threw the ball 41 times, in this conference you don't really want to do that, no matter how much speed you have at receiver or how good your quarterback's arm is. Next year we should be a force in the ground game with an emerging superstar in Keiland Williams and a power back returning for his senior season, Alley Broussard, who will hopefully have a chip on his shoulder. Not to mention Hester, Murphy, Scott, and hopefully McKnight.

I think Les will get a guy who understands balance, but is also innovative in getting his players the football in unique ways.

In forums like this, rumor and inuendo are rampant. It would be easy for anyone to discredit what I am saying to be as such. While I was not in the press box with Jimbo at the game, I do know that this was the case in that he did not call 100 percent of the games until the Tennessee game. You can believe me or not if you wish.

While what I say has no bearing whatsoever on this important hire, I wanted to point out what can happen if we downgrade our OC as well as point out that the best OC we have ever had left our program to take a similar position and I fear that (and know) that part of him leaving was that Miles would not let him do his job.

While at Ok St Miles was known for having some pretty explosive offenses. He was known for his offense. So I really think the conservative play calling is more on Jimbo, rather than Miles. Which is why there may have been a friction between the two. If Miles can produce impressive offenses with avg talent at Ok St just think what he will do with the talent here at LSU? I expect a more open offense next year.

I agree. I think Jimbo was more conservative than Miles--not the other way around.

i'm one of the ones that would disagree with you. i think it was les who was more conservative. i guess if les hires a guy with similar offensive philosphy as OC, then we will find out in '07 which one of us is right. I hope you are.

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other than Todd Monken.
