Part of the reason they switched to the new logo (aside from market pressures and money and the feeling that not changing means falling behind) is that no one that I know of has ever taken the time to do a good/solid digital rendering of the old logo. So when you are on the web looking around and compare the scan-ins, photo imports, and cheap digital mock ups of the old Bayou Bengal (and set them next to the new one) the old one looks very "hand drawn" and dated. Unfortunately we have little say in what the Univeristy does in tems of official branding, but in hopes of keeping the old tiger logo alive on a grassroots level I have (pretty much pixel by pixel) digitally rendered the old tiger. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to use it as you wish. My humble gift to keeping the old logo alive.

No offense, but with the right software and a $100 scanner any idiot in the athletic department could have created a vector graphic from one of the stickers they put on the side of the helmet years ago.

The reason we are stuck with toonces is simple $$. They wanted something new, fresh, and trendy. As a result we're stuck with a logo that looks like Hello Kitty and one of those little anime bastards had a love child.

Thanks for the straw man argument.

I clearly said that I was aware that money was a major reason for the new logo in my post. I also stated my understanding of extremely limited control over this issue. I am not trying to change history or say that I am better than anyone in the athletic department.

However I searched for a high res., decent image size version of the old tiger logo and didn't find one. Not to say it isn't out there, but if it is... it's not exceedingly easy to find...and not everyone wants to waste a couple hours scanning and rendering one.

Now there is one out there that's easy to find and use...and I hope people do exaclty that, and that I see it here and there on the net because I love the old logo. That's all.
