Re: Tiger Stripe Helmets Five years ago I bought my XL (to fit over my enormous dome) LSU helmets, both gold and white, from an E-Bay dude who goes by helmethead2. He offered me this same purple helmet via e-mail about a year ago but I didn't bite. BTW I keep the gold one at home and the white one in my office at work. Most people that ask about it say "I thought they had gold helmets." I tell them they must be mistaken, that we've ALWAYS worn the white ones. I do get called on that every once and awhile...:hihi:
Re: Tiger Stripe Helmets I bought 2 helmets from helmethead2 as well. I thought that might have been your source. I bought their standard yellow one, but I also bought one with the '75 logo as well. I'm sorta saving up for the white one..
I thought anyone could post pictures??????[/quote] Oh...maybe so. I thought that you had to be a contributor...so I didn't even try to post the pic myself. I did get that helmet from helmethead2...through the email offer. I also have the white and gold helmets....and all of the "mini" helmets that LSU has ever worn...but I can't find the white mini helmet. I saw it once before on ebay and the bid got upwards of $75 and I decided to just try and get it again later for a cheaper price....well that was years ago and I am still waiting to find that mini again. Does anyone know where I can get the white mini helmet?
Bay Tiger Are you serious about that uniform design being considered for the Tigers? And if so why did we have a crack problem in the athletic department?
I saw the white mini helmets at the Riverwalk Mall in New Orleans near the Aquarium. I got one last year at Sports Plus [???] in Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge.
There's a bronze (i dunno maybe not bronze) emblem in the cement with a snarling tiger. A quick google image search for "washington artillery" came up with some pics. here's one. I'd hope it's still there. Don't see why not. Then again, there used to be fountains there too, way back when.
Only contributors can attach pictures directly to the forum and then only other contributors can see them. Anyone can post a link to a picture posted elsewhere and then all can see it. You must of course have a site where you can host the picture.
Part of the reason they switched to the new logo (aside from market pressures and money and the feeling that not changing means falling behind) is that no one that I know of has ever taken the time to do a good/solid digital rendering of the old logo. So when you are on the web looking around and compare the scan-ins, photo imports, and cheap digital mock ups of the old Bayou Bengal (and set them next to the new one) the old one looks very "hand drawn" and dated. Unfortunately we have little say in what the Univeristy does in tems of official branding, but in hopes of keeping the old tiger logo alive on a grassroots level I have (pretty much pixel by pixel) digitally rendered the old tiger. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to use it as you wish. My humble gift to keeping the old logo alive.
