1. Hope you left a trail of breadcrumbs home Hansel>>>>>
  2. Okay, for an actual seriousl post.

I think most all Tiger fans are at least satisfied with Miles. Well, all except ramah, and if you stick around here long enough, you'll quickly realize that his not being around is not a bad thing. Some people would've liked to get a big name coach from a powerhouse school, but Miles has done well with what he's had, and Saban sure wasn't a big name coach when he got here.

As far as the West, it's definitely within a reasonable grasp. We have more talented players returning than anyone else in the West. AU lost some key seniors, and most of the other schools haven't been playing at a super high level the last few years. Arkansas has a lot of young guys returning with more experience, but they lost their QB, so they're a question mark. Alabama has some talented players and are probably going to be the toughest team next year, but they won't be untouchable. Granted any team can step up on any given year and play better than they were expected to, particularly SEC teams with the talent level of players in this conference. I don't think many people thought Tennessee would play as well as they did last year, after the loss of their beloved Mr. Clausen (did anyone ever figure out how he saw where to throw the ball since it always appeared that his eyes were closed?). Granted also that we haven't seen Miles in action yet, but we have faith, and as long as a QB and a corner or two step up this year, we'll have a very, very solid team. In general I think we have the best chance of winning the West this year, and a good shot at the SEC.

Then again, what do I know? Not much.

Oh, and welcome to the board, but be prepared to take some crap for being an Auburn fan. It's nothing personal, but it can't be avoided.
  3. alright...well thanks for the welcoming posts and everything else. Well, yall seem quite optimistic, which is called for. I mean, having a 9-3 season called a down-season is sort of a complement(i guess). It's also good to have almost all your tough games at home. I'm just glad we don't have to play you so early like last season(even though i like the outcome). We have to reload, which we will for the most part, and get our offense goin with all the new players at critical positions. Anyways, can't wait till Oct. 22 when we go for two in a row!

oh...and Chaos, you really think that your backfield will produce two top ten picks? Just curious, but I'm not sure that will ever happen again in the SEC.

    and one more thing...cat squirrle.
it seems that yall left the trail of bread crumbs...right to atlanta and then new orleans(even though we wanted to go to miami, and should have).
  4. as far as i know, neither of yours has been drafted yet. besides, that sort of question all hinges on which 10 teams get the first picks. if 2 of them dont need RBs, then no. see my point? moreover, draft selection does not always speak towards an individuals talent level. you saw vincent run for over 1000 yds in basically half a season in '03, and i dont even need to go into what bruiser can/will do (you could just ask ole miss if you still dont know). also consider this: brown and williams were THE centerpiece of AU. at LSU, we have the luxury of having the fastest corp of recievers in the nation...some sources have suggested it may be the fastest ever. therefore, we will not need to give our RBs nearly the number of reps to succeed.
  5. Not so fast, my friend. There are no guarantees on anything (including both of your backs being top 10's), but we have a certain Justin Vincent and Alley Broussard that could both end up being just as dangerous or highly drafted as Brown and Caddy. Don't speaketh of what you knoweth not.
  6. AUHansel, as one of the "Local Non Regulars" on this board (aka: LoNR's :yelwink2: ), I say welcome brutha'

Tygertail....not that I doubt your prowess with Madden'05, but it's gonna' take a little more than that to get it done in the SEC. But on one fact we agree......your offense is loaded with talent. Miles sure won't be able to claim that Nick left the cupboard bare.

  7. Don't forget we do have Vanderbilt on the schedule next year :hihi: :hihi:
  8. I think the offense is getting to much attention. Yes, Miles is an offensive minded coach, but I think he realizes how important it is to have a solid defense. He talks of how hard of a time he had moving the ball against Pelleni - so what did he do? He went out and got him. Our defense is going to be sick! Saban's defenses were good, but I expect to stay close to that level with Pelleni under Miles. Defense takes some key losses, but his hardly going to be aching for talent. The back ups behind guys like Marcus Spears, Corey Webster & Travis Daniels are ready to move into a spotlight of their own.

The only thing that could hold us back next year is transition. Miles is known to fit his systems around the players that he has to work with. Therefore, transition shouldn't be a problem and I think atleast a 10 win season awaits us next year.
  9. yes they are not gaurenteed as top 10 draft picks but most likely they will be. and as far as them being the main part of our offense thats not completely true. yes we run the ball a lot but campbell was our only heisman candidate this season(albeit because brown and williams were sharing time). and if they were considered the main part of the offense, they is a reason, THEY ARE THAT GOOD! I've seen your backs, and they are very good, but not as good as Ronnie and Caddy. While splitting time throughout 4 years at Auburn, Caddy is second all-time in rushing at Auburn with 3831 yards only behind Bo Jackson by about 500 yards. He also has the most rushing td's with 45. Ronnie is 7th all-time with 2707 in rushing yards and 5th in rushing td's with 29. Thats 6538 rushing yards between the two.. And just to show you it wasn't just the backs, heres Campbells stats. He's second in all-time passing yards at auburn with 7299 in 48 games played.
  10. i'll reiterate...stats do not tell the whole story. you know why timmy chang broke the NCAA passing record? b/c they threw the ball 729 times per game. not b/c he's the best passer ever in the NCAA (see also: texas tech). on a sheer talent basis, our backs are every bit as good, if not better, than B&W. remember, we outrushed AU this past september. vincent suffered a bit of a sophmore jinx (hard not to with the year he had in '03), but don't think for one second that he won't be back. he's a damn hard worker. they have not had the reps (collectively) that B&W had by this point b/c, until this year, B&W were the one-dimension of your offense. it wasn't until '04 that campbell was a legit threat. that was the main reason for your success.
