Two reasons...1. Anyone reasonable well-practiced with firearms can swap out an empty magazine for a charged one in 1-2 seconds. No advantage gained if the bad guy intent on doing as much harm as possible carries extra clips. And, 2. that assumes that banning the bigger magazines will actually get rid of them. In short, the self-defense gun owner needs more than 10 rounds because the bad guy, who doesn't give a shit how many bullets Obama says he can load, is coming at you with more than 10.
The hypocrisy of an administration posturing behind gun control after their Fast & Furious gunrunning scandal.
However you want to slice it this really is the root of the problem. Hell even the gang bangers aren't rolling up on elementary schools and blasting kids. We know it isn't the legal gun owners. Can't be Manti's broad, so that only leaves the nut jobs. I guess the good news is that obamacare is bout to start running full force so they will quickly be deemed "untenable" and their numbers should start to decrease rapidly. Of course that is sarcasm, maybe, but it is true. We as a country really should figure out how to deal with the "now now's" (a beer for anyone who gets the movie refrence)
Banning anything won't solve anything. It just makes criminals of law abiding citizens and does nothing to deter the bad guys. Actually emboldens them probably. I know I'm not gonna throw away my 14 round clips just because some ass clown in Washington , who is surrounded by armed guards, doesn't think I should own one. I don't have a AR, but if I did I still wouldn't trash anything I might have for it.
I have mixed feelings about this. I like having 10 and 20 round clips in my Mini-14 for target shooting. Part of the fun of a semi-auto is lining up a dozen or more cans and seeing how fast you can knock them down. And when I'm shooting at varmints like armadillos or coyotes it's handy to rip off a number of quick rounds while you have a shot. But I can give them up if it keeps mass killings down. It just ain't that important. 30 and 40-round mags and especially those 100-round drums could be outlawed. They are so heavy and unwieldy that even the military rarely uses them.
If I had kids in the house, I might not either. I would at least own a gun safe instead of having them laying around in three rooms.
Never. They will ban sales of new magazines, just like last time and just hope that the diminishing numbers will help keep the problem from growing. Americans will never allow confiscation of existing guns. I have too many guns and would not be hurt badly if half of them were gone, but if anybody tries to take away the guns my Dad gave me, I will have a real problem with it.
