I don't believe it is explained. Here's the link to the College football section: http://www.nytimes.com/pages/sports/ncaafootball/index.html
The computer polls were forced to strip out margin of victory, causing many of the screw-ups. But each team's ranking throw out the worst computer poll ranking, meaning that the most extreme one (NY Times' in LSU's case) is not counted.
according to the geniuses at NYT...we have beaten: ULM - 117 Miss St - 96 La Tech - 75 Zona - 72 USC - 52 BAMA - 42 Auburn - 34 Georgia - 10 We lost to Florida #4 This poll is bullsh!t
Here is a link to the Billingsley computer rankings, and it has links to the other rankngs. http://www.cfrc.com/ He has a dialed down explaination of his if you click on the link on the right hand side. The Colley Matrix one I think has a VERY detailed explaination (over my head). I haven't seen much from the other ones though.
let me quote Kirk Herbstreit from 5 minutes ago: "LSU is no longer a factor for Ohio St to get to the BCS title game." If Ohio St wins this weekend..they are in, even if they are #4 in the polls? WHAT A CROCK OF SH!T!!!! This whole system is screwed...Herbie even said he sees a split NC if Ohio St and USC win out. Ohio St in the coaches, USC in the AP. WHAT A MESS!!!
Tiger fans...relax...one week from today we will be looking at BCS rankings that show: OU-1.7 USC-5.64 LSU-8.95 Win out, and from there, we gain about 1.5 points on USC on strengh of schedule alone, gain a few #2 spots in the polls, and we'll be approachig USC for #2. Maybe the computers will also figure out we beat Ga, Ga beat Tenn(at home), and we gain some in the computer rankings.... Also, no one's mentioned it, but OU could lose in a KSU Big 12 matchup..that would be sweet, real sweet, but not planning on it...
I think if we win out, we could very well move up to #2 in the human polls. Also beating #15 and whoever else in the SECCG will be a great boost for SOS. I really believe and hope that the Luckeyes will lose to Michigan.
I was just over on the Ohio St. board reading some of their posts and they're not saying much. They realize they're being given a nice xmas present if it falls their way. It's almost like they know they don't deserve it, but they'll take it anyway. The way I see it is they're screwed either way. First of all, Michigan will not take their BS at the Big House. If, by some miracle, they're given a win again and go to the NC, Oklahoma will without a doubt, tear them a new a-hole. If they lose, and LSU doesn't make it to the NC, and play's Ohio State, their still going to have a brand new a-hole! One of these next few weeks, Ohio State will get beat....really bad.
