If millions of people come here illegally and the solution is to make them legal, then millions more will follow them and we'll continue to repeat this cycle. We've already done it several times before and we're back with the same problem again.

Creating an amnesty program (politicians will call it something else like "reform" and swear it's not amnesty ) doesn't solve the problem. This rewards people who broke our laws and entices more to do so. This is nothing more than a pyramid scheme using people.

What happens when there are no more people at the bottom to do the work? What happens when there is no middle class? Buying votes at the expense of our nation is simply wrong.

VOTE THIS CONGRESS OUT NOW!!! :usaflagwa

are immigrants good, or are they bad? why do we let them in by legal means? why some but not others? why not not just let them all in, unless they are ragheads? dont we need young workers? our population is aging.

i still cant understand why you people do not like immigrants, regardless of how they got here. the only argument i buy is that they arent paying enough taxes, but that seems like a pretty damn minor concern.

The don't pay taxes but they reap the benefits, clogging up the system. The influx has to be controlled. I really think you should STFU about this until you have lived in one of the border areas for a while. It's easy for you to be benevolent from afar when it's the Texans and Arizonans thar are getting phucked.

The knee-jerk response to the Arizona law is absurd. Illegal immigration is already a crime - a federal crime. There is nothing in the Arizona law that is not already covered by federal immigration law. The Arizona law forbids profiling. If profiling occurs the federal courts will likely knock down the law. The police are not authorized to randomly stop Hispanics; there must be other reasons for them to stop Hispanics. This is identical to federal law.

It can certainly be argued that immigration is a federal matter and best handled at the federal level rather than the state level. I agree with that. The problem is that it has NOT been handled at the federal level. That is precisely why Arizona passed the law.

If we are to get control of the illegal immigration issue we need to do a few things. First and formost we need to shut down the border - tight. The Mexican-U.S. border runs for 2,000 miles. Right now we have 700 miles of fencing covering about 1/3rd of the border. We need to add the remaining 1300 miles of fencing backed up by motion detectors, cameras and increased surveillance.

Secondly, we need to deal with the "anchor child" issue. This can be done simply by passing a federal law stating that the child takes on the nationality of the mother. Politicians love bringing this up during election years, and then let it drop once elected. The legislation needs to become a priority.

Thirdly, once the border is secure we can deal with the illegals already in the country. First, there is no way we can round up 12 million people and ship them back home without turning this country into a police state. We have never been a nation where people have to fear a midnight knock on the door and I would hate to see it become one. The vast majority of illegal immigrants are law-abiding (excluding immigration law) people who have been here for years earning an honest living. We have to provide all these people a path to citizenship, but not a shortcut. They have to go through the same process everyone else goes through and they don't get to jump ahead in the line. They have to go to the back of the line. They should also have to pay some sort of a fine.

But we can't do any of this until the border is secured. If we announce a path to citizenship before we have secured borders, they will be coming over in droves. There will be no stopping them.

there are more immigrants, from more places, in my neighborhood, than literally anywhere else on earth. i know immigrants. more than anyone.

if these immigrants are just taking these benefits, we should concentrate on cutting these benefits. they are certainly providing things we desperately need, like cheap labor.

apart from taxes, i will buy the security argument. we probably should have secure borders. but that is so muslims dont get in. mexicans and latin americans simply arent terrorists. they like to work hard and party and generally be awesome.

i think you guys have a "this is a white christian nation" mentality. and that is bull****.
