I don't totally disagree with you but to add to your statement...the two largest employer sanction cases were against Tyson and Wal-Mart. Both are based in Arkansas and guess who the President was at the time...yep, William Jefferson "Slick Willy" Clinton. Anybody want to guess what penalty these two eventually paid?

Neither party wants to lose the fastest growing demographic or tick off their big business constituents.

It's not like illegals are helping pay for our society they mooch off. They mostly get paid in cash and pay no taxes. Whatever money they don't spend on necessities and a little entertainment, they send back to family and friends in their home country. They drain the U.S. because they mooch.

Now, Indiana Tiger, you talk about making them legal... Why would they want to be? They would have to pay taxes and lose money. There is no incentive, other than a little r&r at the county lock-up. But that's only IF some type of law gets enacted. Gotta be a responsibility for illegals if they're here illegally. Not just hope that legalizing them will bring them out of the woodwork. Cause it won't.

Sounds a little naziesque to me. Makes me think of that movie "the great escape" when they were on the train at the end and were asked for their papers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the necessities and stuff added up to a couple of BILLION or more for the state of AZ alone.

What? Do you think these guys all drive around in BMWs and live in mult-million dollar homes because they are not paying taxes? Employers take advantage of them by not paying what they should. They would earn more money as legals even though they would be paying some income taxes. They would have incentives to improve themselves to earn more instead of being fearful of deportation. They would have incentives to set roots here and their children would be better prepared to be productive contributors. The real moochers here are the employers of illegals. They are who you should be pissed at.

Its not an either/or thing. Both sides of the coin are the problem. Blaming only one side is no better than the pandering politicians that dig in and keep any kind of immigration reform from happening.

This is an errant notion and is falsified by multiples studies. Illegals contribute upwards of 7 billion to social security. And billions more in federal income taxes and medicare. These dudes are providing huge subsidies. We should be thankful.

    Most are already paying taxes.

Bull****...The world is full of poor people who will take great risks to improve their lot. For all intents and purposes the supply side is essentially unlimited. On the other hand we do have it within our power to make a massive decrease in demand by making it very costly. We choose not to.

That's what I thought. But this guy makes a good point. (From Okie's article)

Must just be the ones I run into then. My fault.

I can tell you for a fact that many of them do (well, maybe not BMWs). My wife works for a dental practice in Dallas and can tell you many, many times that Hispanics bring their kids to the dentists in Escalades, Suburbans, and other high-end vehicles, but have their dental bills paid by CHIPs and Medicaid. Because illegals DO get paid in cash, they have little reportable income and thus are eligible for free government assistance. My mother saw the exact same thing when she was food service director for a local school district and saw who was getting free lunches. Everyone knows what is going on but either by law can't investigate it or don't have the resources to do so (if they check the ones they suspect, then by law they have to check everyone).

And if I once more hear the phrase "they do work that Americans don't want to do", I think I'm gonna puke. The fact is they do the work Americans don't want to do unless they get paid a real living wage. Those so-called low end jobs were once held by Americans, but the illegals have driven the wages down so low that most people who are legitimate cannot make a living on them. Do you think that meat packing plants, janitorial services and housing contractors have ALWAYS employed illegals? Yes, the employers are also at fault, and I say go after them as well. But the problem needs to be attacked from both sides and unfortunately, each party has a vested interest in a particular side of it.
