You're right, of course, but obviously the writers have taken some creative liberties. The concept of the entire show kind of forces us to use our imaginations, so I think that applies here as well.
Yeah, his about face didn't make ANY sense as it was totally out of character for him. Not sure how much more of a bang he could have gone with. The gov. did what he did to him on purpose. And, damn you writers! I ALMOST felt a little sorry for him and that sux because he doesn't deserve any compassion.
I liked the nice, inexpensive method of acquiring a wedding ring. I wish I had thought of that before dropping serious $$$! Nothing says love like a diamond chopped off a zombie's finger.
I got a sneaky feeling ole Daryl's gonna go apeshit on the guvna's crew. And yeah, Merle's 180 was completely out of character, especially the conversation that him and Michonne had in the car. Out of character for both I believe.
I don't think as much out of character as you guys are saying. For Michonne, it's more of her finally opening up and talking some. I think she knew what she was in store for her if she didn't open up some. As far as Merle, you can see Daryl's influence on him. Merle is what Daryl would be if Daryl had buried his conscious. All we saw was the talking with both Daryl and then with Michonne was Merle's conscious being unearthed. The comments on how he had never killed anyone until the governor probably helped that too. He isn't evil like he seems, he just did what he felt he needed to do in order to survive, and now in Daryl he sees that maybe he made the wrong decision. He still thinks it is too late for him, but he could possibly save his brother, hence the suicide mission.
