Rick is under a lot of pressure. I dont think Rick is weak. I think if Shane were around and in charge he would be a lot like the governor. anyone remember Otis? I personally dont think that would be an upgrade over Rick. I think Rick's character is falling victim to some subpar writing. He goes through a similar breakdown in the comic but comes out of it a better leader.
Everyone's talking about Carl being the leader and he is a little badass, but he's still too young. I kind of like how Glenn has stepped up. His character has really grown since the beginning.
Nowhere to go but up after starting out a sniveling wimp. He'll be dead soon too if he doesn't learn to let shit go, and running off to deal with things.
The writers are letting Maggie feel sorry for herself over the capture/interrogations/almost rape! So, she was terrorized by the governor, had to strip to a topless state--but now has 1. her life 2. Glenn's life and 3. her top is back on! So, again, people! BFD. You are all alive, all together! Who has the time--with the zombie and Governor threats--to hold grudges for whatever BS reasons, to play those "pre-zombie apocalypse" female mind games? Get everyone together, clean out the frickin' prison compound already, mend the fences; then attack and kill the Governor and his asswipes. Makes for good TV! If I wanted the crap I saw in the last episode, I'd stay home from work and tune in to "General Hospital" or "As the World Turns" or some such crappola!
It had a ton of potential from what I saw through the first 2 seasons. But like most shows, story lines are suffering as they try to find more drama to write about. But I have faith they'll get back to it, too much promise to go down the drain now.
I'm curious about how they choose to end this series. Every zombie movie generally ends the same really, the main characters survive a huge ordeal, sometimes the main characters even die, but supporting cast members live thanks to a heroic self sacrifice by the main character. However, they only survive an initial zombie attack, and the viewer usually realizes that there are thousands and maybe millions of zombies left, so there is never a clear ending. That's why I thought this show had so much potential. They could touch on topics that movies don't have time to touch on.
I think we are already seeing this. A year or so after the outbreak, and the biggest threat out there isn't the zombies, but the other people competing for scarce resources.
