Interesting take... I tend to agree. There's no way an experienced law man would let Rick get the drop on him, much less Randall. However, I don't think Shane wanted to die. He loved Lori and Carl and wanted to be 'the man'.
I disagree, only in the sense that, if Shane were to 'come back' and defer to Rick as the leader, it would have been after their fight, when he thought Rick abandoned him on the bus, but he returned and saved him. While I don't think it would have mattered much in regards to Shane's intentions, I did agree with him in the matter concerning Carl. Rick SHOULD have talked to Carl about what happened with Dale, right then. I know it eventually happened, but it didn't happen when it should have. I think Rick was so gung ho about proving to Shane that he (Rick) was the leader, that he stopped listening to Shane altogether, even when he offered sound advice; which was a failure on Rick's part as a leader.
I don't ever think that Shane would have ever deferred to Rick again, but I do think they could have pieced together their partnership back together. I think there are two sides to this equation: Rick & Shane and Shane & Lori. I think the last conversation with Shane and Lori was crucial. Lori finally acknowledged her faults and mistakes with happened between them and acknowledged how difficult it is for Shane to deal with the fact that she is pregnant that the baby may be his. I think she told Shane what he needed to hear and brought this side of the equation to some form of closure. So I view Shane's attempt to talk to Rick about Carl as him testing the waters a little bit with Rick to see if there may be a way out of this feud, but Rick misplayed it very badly. I agree with this. Once Rick gets a chance to think about what happened I think he will be haunted by the way he treated Shane since the bus incident and see that it played a big part in how things ended between them. Rick usually makes the right calls on people but he blew this one big time.
Ok, so who the &()#$ was that cloaked dude that saved Andrea? More importantly, why did he have those armless walkers on a leash? Wouldn't they just slow him down should he encounter a herd? I'm just curious as to their purpose. Also, we saw the prison in the pull away shot at the end of the episode. I take it that's where they're heading. It just sucks that we have to wait so long for a new episode. I guess I'll start reading the comics, if I can find them.
So now we know why the walkers were passing through. Because of a helicopter. Somebody is in the sky with a helicopter! Shane thought he knew best but his gun shot drew the walkers to the farm. I liked the inevitability of that. Rick or Shane....the zombies were coming either way. Now Rick has to come to terms with killing his best friend and Lori is cold to him because he killed her baby daddy. The group doesn't know if they can trust him but they have no other option. As long as Daryl is on Rick's side they will follow. But this ain't no democracy no more folks! I was wondering what role Hershel's people were going to play. They hardly had any lines all season. They were zombie fodder. Someone had to get eaten that night. Great finish. Great season. I like a show that leaves me feeling uncomfortable but wanting more.
Just got netflix and decided to give this series a try from the beginning. What bothers me is haven't any of these *******s seen a zombie movie? Who would think, "Yeah, its a good idea to go to a large city."?
She is Michonne, and she is awesome. The story arc she appears in begins with issue 19, or trade paperback volume 4.
That was my first thought too, followed by - 'I wonder where that came from'. Well, the big city in this show is Atlanta, home of the CDC, so in a way, it makes sense to see if they've found a cure. Plus, you have a better chance of scavenging supplies in a big city. But yes, you're right, there's also more of a chance of getting bitten or killed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yep, I could tell she was awesome by the way she decapitated that walker with a samurai sword and by the way she had 2 of them, armless and muzzled, chained on a leash. Still unsure of their purpose though. I will try to catch the story arc you mentioned in the comics.
I know right? With Rick's telling, one could conclude that he decided Shane had to go and he did it. I wouldn't want Rick to be my defense attorney. Another little irony in the show was that Lori had that heart felt moment with Shane in the last episode and then her husband and son put a knife and bullet in him. Poor Shane. A woman drove him crazy and to his death. This is sort of a Greek Tragedy. No? "When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among is pinions may stab you in the gut and you will bleed to death" - Kahlil Gibran
Yeah it was Michonne. That's a badass chic. The two walkers chained to her are her husband and his best friend, according to the comics. Wondering now how close they're gonna stay true to the original content. They've done a pretty good job so far. Looks like season 3 will start with the prison. Hmmm....
