My dog is scared of her own fucking shadow. She was out front sniffing around and someone walking a dog down my street appeared. I didn't want her to try to run up to the dog and disturb their walk so I snuck up behind Lucy and grabbed her to sort of pick her up and bring her to the doorstep. When I grabbed her, she yelped for about 4 seconds, the loudest yelps ever. The lady walking the dog thought I was beating the fuck out of my Great Dane puppy. I tried to explain as the lady walked away briskly. Also, it was early in the morning and I was in my boxers so it was probably quite a scene.
In N Out has been in DFW for about 2 years now, and I just can't bring myself to try it. 1) I rarely do fast food, so I'm not likely to waste a "real meal" on it, and 2) the one closest to my house perpetually has a line wrapped around the building at all hours of the day. Of course, it probably doesn't help that it's across Preston Road from Stonebriar Mall--that's just asking for crowds of people in one space.
Boys, there used to be a place up where I lived in the mill village, "the Chicken and Oyster Shack" The name was a bit upscale. I was young, then, but they had battered fries, battered chicken and cold beer in frosted mugs on tap. Dayum!
I thought we were discussing fries? In-and-Out has the best Fast Food burger, hands down. It's the freshness that stands out. The meat is never frozen, but fresh ground with a day or two of sale. The veggies are never older than 48 hours after picking (I think). It comes out hot, fresh and fast so don't be afraid to stand in line. They're the Chik-fil-a of burgers. They're no comparison to places like Mason's Grill or Port of Call, but for fast food they beat every one. I get my In-and-Out fix whenever I get out to the West Coast in the form of a Double Double, mustard fried with grilled onions. The fries are okay, but nothing special. I usually get them well done, animal style and easy on the sauce.
You whippersnappers don't know it, but the fries at McDonalds in the 60's were the best ever. They were famous for their fries. Unfortunately, they have been forced to change the recipe and they are now fairly ordinary. First, in the 1970's they stopped frying them in beef lard and switched to vegetable oil. Some folks were upset that they were getting more beef fat in their fries than in a cheeseburger. Then in the 90's it was revealed that McDonalds had been soaking their fries in beef broth before frying, so the vegetarians complained that the only vegetarian dish at Mc Donalds was contaminated with animal product. But those old politically incorrect McDonalds fries were fantastic.
Kind of random but do you remember the chicken nuggets in the 80's-early 90's? I have no clue why they got rid of them but nothing compared fast food wise and nothing does still to this day
