NCAA softball super regional pits Pac-12 against SEC http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/ind...ball_super_regional_p.html#incart_river_index Few sports have been dominated by one conference the way the Pac-12 held a grip over softball for its first 30 years in the NCAA. Ever since UCLA won the first NCAA softball national title in 1982, 24 of the first 30 national titles were claimed by Pac-12 schools, and all but two of the WCWS finals in that span featured at least one Pac-12 team. Yet the conference's power has waned. Not only has a Pac-12 team failed to win an NCAA title the past five seasons, the conference hasn't produced the WCWS runner-up, either. Meanwhile, SEC schools have won three titles in that span. This season, 21 of the 64 teams in the NCAA tournament came from either the Pac-12 or SEC, including all 13 from the SEC, the first time all of a conference's members made it since the Pac-10 in 2007. And of the 16 teams remaining, all but three are Pac-12 or SEC members. Florida and Alabama begin their series Thursday at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN. UCLA vs. Mississippi begin their series starting at 6 p.m. PT Thursday on ESPN all others begin their series on Friday
As strange the seedings looked this season, I was shocked this happened for the first time. Alabama +320 Florida -460 Mississippi +155 UCLA -195 Texas A&M +120 tennessee -160 LSU +195 Florida State -275 Kentucky +400 Oregon -600 Utah +170 Washington -230 Oklahoma +110 auburn -150 Baylor +400 Arizona -600
GDF, a lot of that has to do with PAC kids coming to play in the SEC. I haven't check rosters in the past couple of years but a few years back, SEC rosters were loaded with softball recruits from out west.
Just dug. I meant to look at 16-17 yr rosters but realized I had 2016 ones. Here' a sniper. Florida had 7 from California. Almost half the roster. Tennessee had 5 from California Auburn had 4 Bama just had 2
UCLA up 1-0 over Ole Miss. Take notes baseball pitchers. UCLA softball pitcher just hit a moonshot. Boy pitchers are such pussies.
