Nebraska's original name was the Bug Eaters. I kid you not.

You can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but never all of the people all of the time. You can start naming every school after flowers or cinted candles, but some idiot's still gonna have a problem with it. If a descent percent of people feel a mascot is offensive, then it's worth looking over, but not just a couple radicles who speek louder than those who don't care.

As a graduae of ULM when it was NLU i simply dont understand what the mascot of Indians does to offend anyone. We have always been respectfull and it makes no sense.

I would think the NCAA could be working on a way to solve the problem of no playoff for college football and not having a clear champion .

Being politically correct makes me want to puke.

The NCAA has lost control of collegiate sports and have no idea what the real issues facing college sports are.

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Congratulations Calco, that's the most salient post by a ULM grad ever posted at TF. I could not agree more. Good stuff my man, good stuff.

im not certain we can speak for native americans, err indians. if we were to have a team called the southeast negros, I am sure i could not speak for them. wait, is negro now offensive? is this thing on?

anyhow, im not sure what is pc or honkie-fied anymore but im guessing the indians weren't aware this was offensive til the ncaa told them it was but i cant be sure. i say we do whatever we can to offend everyone and see where it goes cuz the other extreme is too confusing for me.

It sounds weird, and is sad to say, but those mascots are about the only thing that makes people even think of Indians these days...

I know that I, as a kid, asked my dad what a Seminole was etc...

It is good to teach their heritage.... b/c We don't get this in school

Ol' Jeb Bush slammed the NCAA yesterday.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=2130079

Guess who will represent FSU in their legal challenge? Barry Richard
Guess who announced yesterday she's running for the US Senate: Kathryn Harris
Maybe Al Gore can represent those 11 pissed off Indians.

This thing will only get better. "Hi, How are ya. Hi, How are ya"
