so how is being 1st in the West, the far superior league not results? Would Garnett be in 1st without Allen also being added? I don't think so. Garnett gets all the credit, but Allen is what puts them over the top.
It's close between Bryant and Paul for me. Bryant is valuable because of his scoring, while Paul is valuable because he gets others to score and creates scoring opportunities. Paul is 2nd in assists while Bryant is 30ish, but Bryant is 2nd in scoring while Paul is 30ish. Paul is also 1st in steals, so I would give him my vote right now. Like Clair said, without Paul the Hornets may be a .500 team.
I like Garnett a lot and of course the Celtics are an amazing story this year, but he is one of the 3 amigos and you just can't single him out for their absolute success this season. I think Kobe and Paul are the only 2 that should be in the discussion. LeBron being mentioned is laughable, for what Clair alluded to with his team not even faring nearly as well as last season. He doesn't make the players around him better. That's what an MVP does. Kobe has finally learned to do that. I voted Kobe, and I don't even like him.
No brainer. I think that Chris Paul is a shoo-in. It is absolutely remarkable how he has elevated the play of everyone around him.
What's with the overuse of "laughable"? Anyway, it's rediculous to say that Lebron is not a legit MVP candidate. Why not? If nothing else, the stats are amazing. I realize that numbers aren't everything, but he is ahead of Kobe in points, rebounds, assists (and he's doing it at a higher shooting %). Admittedly, Kobe has played better D than Lebron, but it's not like Lebron has been pulling a Steve Nash impression. This isn't like voting ARod MVP back when he played for a TERRIBLE Rangers team. Cleveland is playing very well right now and might end up being the 3 seed in the East. His supporting cast is okay, but it's not as good as what Kobe and Garnett have. I think Kobe ends up winning it, but it will mostly be based on his never having won it before. The rationale is that Lebron has another 10 years to do it. That's not how the award should be given out (see Karl Malone winning it ahead of Jordan).
Touche on the spell check:thumb:. Back to the topic at hand. What difference does it make whether they are as good this year? Jordan won another MVP even though Chicago didn't get to 72 wins again. I expected more from you clair.
when LeBron wins 1 title, much less the 3-4 MJ had at that point, then he can justify "taking off" the regular season. The actual w's and l's don't mean anything. The Bulls were always the No. 1 seed. Cleveland was the 2-seed this past year and returned the same roster (almost exactly) with a LeBron that is a year older. They will be a 4-5 seed this year and will get beat by Toronto in the 1st round. If by some chance they get by Toronto, they will certainly get waxed by the C's in rd 2.
