Not to pronounce him a savior or anything, but consider how Big Baby is doing in the NBA summer league against first round, even lottery pick, big men: Glen "Big Baby" Davis: http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=glen_davis Spencer (Overrated) Hawes: http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=spencer_hawes Yi Jianlian http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=yi_jianlian You throw out the first game where Big Baby scored 3, and his average would be higher than both of these guys. He's also averaging a better shooting %, rebounds per game and blocks per game than each of these guys. It's just too bad that Noah and Horford aren't playin' summer ball, eh?
Just to not to pick on the lottery guys and leave out other picks before Glen... how are some of the other forwards and big men doing? The Hornet's pick of Julian Wright is a little bit of a head scratcher... http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=julian_wright Dallas had a chance to get Glen but went with Nick Fazekas... http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=nick_fazekas Philly's picks are doing alright, but could they have used Glen late in the first? Thaddeus Young: http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=thaddeus_young Jason Smith: http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=jason_smith These guys are all averaging less points, rebs, and blocks than Big Baby, and they're not necessarily getting less minutes. I'll continue to watch for Glen, and these other guys... As a side plug, I was a little down on Houston for not trying to nab Big Baby, but Aaron Brooks is surprising and lighting up the summer leauge. Although, they did nab Carl Landry ahead of Big Baby... which is probably a wash right now... http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/players/index.jsp?player=carl_landry :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
