I have no love for SEALs...they mostly just get in the way, but this is crazy. Even if they did rough him up a little...who the phuck cares? The fact that they're pursuing charges is enough to make me a little thankful that my time in is over. Something tells me I wouldn't last long in Iraq before being locked up for doing my duty. I can't believe they're making something out of this.

 

It all goes back to the CIC. And the current one is pathetic.

 

Instead of being put on trial for doing their sworn duty they should be given medals and commendations and then promoted

 

why would it haunt your career that you punched a terrorist and went to trial? what kind of idiot would hold that against you?

of course. but i dont think it is all that bad to go to trial. i cant imagine they will be found guilty and given any real punishment.

even if the dude is guilty, and he admits it "i kinda got angry and punched the guy in the face", that doesnt seem very bad and the guy will still be a hero.

and the military should have a policy of not punching people in the face unless necessary. of course they should be pretty lenient when it happens i9n circumstances like this. so i guess that is what the trial is for. figure out of they guy punched him in the face, then if he did remind him not to do again, and send him on his way, with his medals for heroism.

 

Sorry martin. I respect you but you're way off on this one. It doesn't work this way. CM equals end of career. Hell, now a days a captains mass/NJP/office hours would just about end a career.

A career ended because some POS said he was mistreated in captivity. This same POS is probably responsible for the deaths of at least four Americans. Remind me again how we're treated in captivity...

This is a perfect example of why guys like this should be wanted Dead or Dead. They just about always end up using our tainted "system" against us. The SEALs only mistake here was bringing the guy back alive.

And red, don't give me any BS about how we should hold ourselves to a higher standard. This isn't conventional warfare, and even if it were, who gives a crap about a POS getting his lip busted up?

Also, fat chance these guys will be allowed to continue serving as SEALs. Their names and faces are going to be all over the media. Six months from now they'll be assigned to a ship chipping paint off a bulkhead counting down the days until their EAS.

On a larger scale, I dread watching how this goat rope trial in NYC is going to play out. Take some pictures of the festivities for us.

to be fair, the only thing i know about court martials is that major winters requested one in band of brothers after the guy from friends got on his nerves. he seemed to be ok.

certainly if it hurts this dude's career, and you seem pretty certain that it will, then that is an enormous miscarriage of justice and nothing could be worse. i guess we will find out what happens.
