You can make an argument that Gary is not the No. 1 prospect in the country, that is always debatable, but there is very little doubt in anyone's mind that he is an elite level prospect.

The 6-4, 310-pound specimen recently visited LSU, and a return trip to Baton Rouge is scheduled for Wednesday, with his mother in tow, according to sources.

The trip is supposed to be two days long, with Gary's desire to make a return visit with his mother being the motivation for the trip. It is believed that LSU is firmly in his top group, with a top five being released in the near future. Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn and Ohio State are all being mentioned by sources as schools of "high interest," with LSU being described as a "real threat" for his services.

LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron has been handling his recruitment, and the relationship the two have forged is one of the main reasons that the Tigers are in the hunt. A return trip to Baton Rouge with his mother is a very good sign for the Tigers.

LSU set to host the nation's No. 1 recruit for second time in less than a month.

Rashan Gary will be back on LSU's campus Wednesday.

The 5-star recruit ranked No. 1 in the country will make the return trip less than two weeks after he made his first visit to Baton Rouge. This time he'll have a very important guest with him too.

Gary's mother will accompany him as the two will fly down Wednesday morning and stay overnight. Gary's mother is a key piece in his decision-making process, and all schools must have her approval if they wish to recruit her son. She's checked out some of his other suitors, and this will be her first opportunity to see LSU.

LSU made a very positive impression on Gary when he came, made even clearer by his willingness to return so soon.

The New Jersey native came down with a coach and some teammates toward the tail end of LSU's Elite Camp last month. Gary said the LSU coaching staff welcomed him with open arms.

"I loved it," Gary said in an interview with Scout after that visit. "It was family. Everybody was happy to see us, even the players...When we got there, they welcomed us with open arms. We had a fun time."

Ed Orgeron continues to make huge strides with the best defensive linemen in the country. Earlier this week he offered five-star Oluwole Betiku, and the Californian is already working to schedule his official visit in the fall. There are several other big names on the board like Rashard Lawrence, Shavar Manuel, Raekwon Davis, Stephon Taylor and Ross Blacklock among others.

Now the mutual interest between LSU and Gary, the nation's best recruit, seems to be getting even hotter.

This is one area in which I have all the confidence in the world, in our coaches. They can land 'em with the best.
