I've posted on several occasions about the Respect threads, they do get old and tired. If being ranked in the top 5 in the country is a lack of respect than I hope we never get it. Stop the crying, I also agree that the guys that go to chats and email writers complaining of these trivial things give all LSU fans a black eye. Quit crying.
I still don't understand how they could take out strength of schedule and add more human decision......thats just gonna make room for national bias!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't understand that. When Tulane went 12-0....why didn't they make the BCS championship?
Reading such posts during the season last year is what actually got me involved in forum and was the reasoning for my first post. Some 700 or so posts and nearly a year later, nothing has changed. People still are not happy.
I completely agree with almost everything you say Your post is not one of the ones I was speaking about. The only thing I do want to mention is that I don't care about the ranking as long as it doesn't hurt us in the end. Last year, had we been ranked higher to start, our BCS standing would have been more solid, and it would have not been as close as it was to not making it, but I agree that it was complete speculation as to where we should have been. What I am saying is that whomever the #1 and #2 teams are for the previous year be granted the same ranking going into the following year. It is traditionally the way it should be. If that is not possible, it is unfair to rank any team until after the first week because it gives those teams ranked near the top a decisive advantage in the BCS.
Exactly I think the few people in this room don't get the big picture of what's going on and haven't thought it all out. I believe they are in the vast minority because all of the fans I have talked to agree completely. Take pride in your state! Louisiana and LSU FB will continue to see a lack of media respect until LSU justs rams it down their phukkin' throats and breaks their phukkin' windpipes ... just like the Skipper did in baseball ... Nick is lining 'em up for a similar run in FB ... Missing the point Some of y'all are missing the point. LSU starting off low in the polls hurts their chances of going to the NC game. If Oklahomo and Southern Cal both go undefeated (a distinct possibility thanks to their JOKE schedules), they will play in the Orange bowl regardless of what LSU does. LSU can beat Georgia twice and still get shut out of the NC. Hell, it almost happened last year! And if it does happen this year, you'll all be :cry: , but it will be too late. There is definitely a bias against LSU right now. You can rationalize it al you want by saying it's because of the qb, but how the hell does that explain how Free Shoes U, with a proven LOSER at qb, is still ranked in the top 10? There is no way in hell LSU should be ranked behind Oklahomo (after the spanking they got last year) OR Jawja (did LSU have to beat them three times to be ranked ahead of them this year???). If the reporter nurds want to put USC #1 LSU #2 to start, I can begrudgingly accept it. But LSU should not be ranked lower than teams they have already beaten handily.
If USC goes undefeated they will be in the Orange Bowl. They were the team that was screwed last year, not us. OU should not have been playing us. That is what started all of this mess. USC thinks that there is a bias against them, rightly so. I do not like them, but look at the facts. The BCS screwed up last year and put OU in the NC. It should have been LSU v. USC. I beleive we would have won that game, but we will never find out. We just need to take care of business one game at a time and we will be OK. :geaux:
I agree USC should have been the one LSU smashed in the Sugar bowl last year. But it isn't LSU's fault the BCS system (which settles the colege football NC , by the way) picked OK instead. And are you telling me that if LSU, OK and USC all go undefeated that OK-USC for the NC is ok bayou? Not me. lefire:
No, you are missing the point. Like Saban said, last year has no bearing on this season. If the Sports Writers feel LSU is the 3rd or 4th best team than that is where they should rank us, period, end of discussion. They should not rank on what we did last season. If we had lost 19 of 22 starters like Arkansas did should we still be ranked number one this season? No. And for God sakes, quit with the bias crap, you all sound just like the West Coast guys with their East coast bias sh!t. And do any of you really think the editor of a newspaper in Butte, Montana would really tell his writer to vote for a big market team because of of the market size, or in Alabama, or Florida, or S. Carolina, or Louisiana? Look at the votes, it's not just big market writers that voted the way they did, it's most of the writers from around the country.
