some ppl who will remain nameless due to Brett telling me to stop taking jabs at ppl. Are not into giving second chances to people. They think their lives are so perfect that they are above the rest of us "normal" folk. They Believe that people can't get their act right. They think Coach Saban don't know what he doing. They Think he is another Gerry Dumb@$$ and lets every person who got released from Jail on the football team. They Don't realize since Coach Saban has been at LSU only one person has been into trouble with the law. And only a handful of recruits haven't even been qualified to get into school. The people who have been complaining about needs to buy a clue. And stop thinking that Coach Saban loses any sleep at night because you don't agree with the decisions he make.

I'm not sure it's not wanting to give a second chance as it's knowing that not so long ago we had several of these type players on the team. I think it's more of not wanting to backslide into that mode again. It's not likely with Saban at the wheel, but one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. There could be a pattern here. He did attend an alternative school at 15. These are the events he has been caught at. It's easy to get caught up in stuff and for things to turn sour very quick. My senior year of HS, I went off with a group one night and we staked out an area to throw eggs at cars. As God is my witness, I never threw an egg at a car. It went sour quick as soon as they ran out of eggs. They started throwing roots from a brush pile. Short story, guys from a car that was hit, started searching the area with a shotgun. When I got home, I never went off with them again. These were good friends. I started hanging with different friends. I made a choice to go off with these folks, and I made a choice not to go off with them again. I don't know if Saban is making a good decision or not. I don't have a good feeling about it because of many of the reasons listed in this thread. I don't want to win at the expense of having thugs throughout the team. Yes this is just one guy, how many more will we give a scond chance to? Remember when DiNardo suspended Kevin for one game? Out of despiration he lifted that suspension for Kevin to play against Houston. That was a sour victory for me, because DiNardo bent the rules. It's like grounding your kid for a week and lifting it after two days. You do that enough and you lose credability. IMO Dinardo lost control of the team with that decision. It's not just about taking a chance on this kid, your taking a chance with your team. I'd hate to see Saban lose what he's worked hard to develop at LSU. This is a situation that Nick can look like a hero or a goat. But when it's all said and done, he's the coach and it's his decision. Miami did that with Cecil and one screw up with them and he is gone. I heard he is in prison now.

Since he's in Michigan, I'm assuming he means Bobby Williams, Coach Saban's successor at Michigan State.

When coaches give guys like this a chance there are a lot of things different than a normal guy coming in.

These kind of guys are not given a scholarship right away. If they come in and keep their nose clean for a year or more then they are possibly awarded a scholarship.

There is risk in giving him a chance, but wouldnt we all like to think that if we were at rock bottom somebody would try to help us. If he comes in knowing he is on a short leash and he screws up they send him home. If he comes in with a new act plays well turns his life around we all win including the kid.

Yeah he may mess up and get sent home. I am sure the coaches have talked to this guy and think he is at least going to try to be a straight shooter.

I am sure him being a LB helped him land a chance too since we are thin at that position. Also if he does mess up I just hope its not something that could be a public relations nightmare, but I guess its a risk reward situation.

Harris has been quoted as saying that now that he has a child he wants to be a good father and put the past behind him. All I can say is good luck to him and that I trust Nick Saban's instincts.

    How badass is this guy?

And if he did play this year, would he make a HUGE difference?

There are some things in life...

that don't deserve a second chance.

He was armed. Somebody could have gotten killed.

Sorry, Nick, this is a mistake.
