Reduced to gimmicks. They announced this week that for next year's spring race at Bristol the track will be converted to dirt. The Cup series hasn't run on dirt in 40 years.
NASCAR abandoned their true fans and their fans values... then doubled down on it by going woke with bubba’s loop knot... and then new fans just don’t want to spend 3 or 4 hours watching a race that only turns left and is only interesting for about 10 minutes. The gimmick of a dirt track is funny.
I like dirt tracks at the local level, but not at what the cup series is stooping to. That's their story now and it is a sad result of the decline over the last 15 years. The direction they are going is likely going to result in all the tracks going to dirt. Those cars are not built for dirt, so it's odd, all around.
All the teams will have to build a car just for dirt at Bristol. I don't think many will be turned into dirt. Now if it rains they dry the track and resume the same day or the next. What are they going to do if the track turns to mud?
