Mike Dunleavy http://www.nba.com/coachfile/mike_dunleavy_sr/index.html I think Mike Dunleavy would welcome the change to College Basketball. He would bring top recruits with his NBA background. He's not happy at the LA Clippers. Let's go get him!!! This would be a big name hire and bring attention to our program. Shaq would love it. We need to go for a grand slam and build this program into what it can and should be. Who is Rivals talking about? http://lsu.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?sid=&script=content.asp&cid=772424&fid=&tid=&mid=&rid=
I agree with Grant and the top choice, but if not him would like to see a young coach like Ford. But, if you cant get a young coach. Then i say you do like we did for the womens coach and bring in a big name coach and try to set up a succesor while he is under contract. And not saying it will happen but doesn't it seem kind of weird that we fire brady the same week Knight "resigns". Since no body had mentioned it thought i would. :geaux:
1)Tim Floyd would be great and a good fit. He probably would not stick around for more than 5-6 years, though. 20Dana Altman, HC at Creighton, who has a long streak of winning BB teams, in spite of having a rather limited recruiting base. Seems to get the best out of his players.
Coach Mike Anderson....currently at Mizzou. Listen....I live in B'ham and this guy coached at UAB for YEARS and compiled a very good record including several runs deep into the NCAA tournament....all the while being a UAB for gods sake!!! I could not believe that more big time schools didn't make a run at him and that he settled for Mizzou (he did get A LOT of money though). The guy can flat out coach, can recruit, and I think would be a great hire at LSU. We'd have to pluck him away from Mizzou though... Matt
who is this guy and how quickly can we ban him? tell him to take his ignorance over to tigerdroppings
I think he may have already been. you'd think it'd be hard to kill bad grass like that if not. we'll see, I guess.
Wow, well I was out of town when the news broke out about Brady. Honestly I'm a little surprised that Skip did what he did, when he did, but in many ways, it's the right choice... when you want to see what Butch can do. It's time to move on, and although there will still be those who question the firing (including "knowledgeable" folks like Bruce Pearl... http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/15490086.html), it's time for a change. So, let's take this debate up another level. Folks know what I've posted about potential replacements. BUT, consider this for Skip's continuing dilemma about this program. Butch (a loyal Brady guy, mind you), comes out and fires up his squad and they play #7 Tennessee to two points. A loss still and a 47-45 scoring output (sound like a Brady score?), but 10,000 fans in the stands and a clearly upbeat and positive influence on the sidelines and with the players. Butch primarily recruited these guys. Tasmin dresses out to support Butch. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/15490116.html So, here's the question. When interviewed most incoming players stand by Butch, with the exception of Bobo Morgan, they say they're staying with their pick. Here's your "player's coach" in Pierre. What does he have to do the rest of this year to earn a legitimate shot? Is it fair to say that this is really just a "kindler and gentler" Brady's regime? If a young guy like Anthony Grant gets the call, can he really come in and keep Butch, Dollar and Treloar? I would think he'd want his own guys. So, who of these guys get the ax? Do you keep Butch and Chad as recruiting guns? Seeing how these guys played yesterday, and what things Butch are doing (like thinking to take the guys off-site to stay at a hotel together before the game), certainly say he's a contender for this job--we'll see if he wins any more than Brady would have. He also maintains the current recruiting momentum. But, for all of the Brady haters out there who want a new leadership, is this good enough--if it's Butch? :geaux::bball: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
LSU once hired a player's coach in Mike Archer. What the current players think should not be considered when hiring a coach. What is best for the future of the program should be the deciding factor, not likability with current players. I have no idea if Pierre can run a program. I do know he has exactly zero experience doing so and it would be a gamble hiring him as the HC. I think they all get canned and we hire someone with some HC experience.
I don't mind if we hire an Ass. Coach to become the HC. There are plenty of plenty of talented assistants out there and evry year we see them become HC's and be good at it.
