Hmmm. We had 13 aircraft carriers under GHW Bush and we have 12 aircraft carriers today. While it is true that we retired four carriers after 40-year service lives, we also built three bigger, more capable carriers in that time. Total loss=one aircraft carrier, not four. And a new carrier, the USS GHW Bush, authorized during the Clinton administration, is being built right now. Three more older carriers will have to be retired soon, so the next administration, even if Bush wins, will preside over the retirement of three more carriers and we will end up with only ten by 2008. Even factual numbers don't always tell the whole story.
