If it were the old way USC and Michigan would have still been bound to play in the Rose Bowl as the champs of the Pac 10 and Big 10 while LSU would be in the Sugar as SEC champs. If OU had beaten K State OU would have been in the Fiesta and LSU's Sugar Bowl opponent would have most likely been Ohio State but with the loss OU would probably still be playing LSU in the Sugar. Under that scenario LSU and OU would be playing for second in both polls. Regardless, two teams that stand head and shoulders above USUCK will be playing for the true recognized National Championship under the rules that everybody in the NCAA is party to and agreed upon. I would love to see the winner play USUCK next week and blow them off the field. It won't happen. Everybody keeps saying you can't change the rules in the middle of the season. BUT - If whoever makes the rules voted to add a game next week that would be the new rule. NASCAR changed the rule about allowing drivers to continue racing to the yellow flag once the yellow caution flag goes up in the latter part of the season and they are constantly tweaking the rules about spoiler heights and restrictor plates during their season. At any rate the winner will be the best team in the nation and the loser will be the second best team in college football in my opinion no matter who is voted #1 in the "other poll"
In my opinon, to be a CHAMPION, you must play in a CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. if OU wins, they are champs. WHEN LSU wins, we will be champions....and not just Sugar Bowl Champs, but NATIONAL CHAMPS. End of story.
I disagree with you !!! OKLA did not fulfill the requirments of being ranked # 1 they unlike LSU and S CAL lost the last game of the season it should be LSU and S CAL but this is why we are fans we are both right it just depends on how we see the game we make it what we want it to be then like the sports writers we go out and stir it a bit .
