Let me get this straight, Bill Clay was DC at UAB when they beat us in Tiger Stadium? UAB has a badass defense that year and his other credentials, while very old, look impressive. Very interesting... I may have to re-think where I stand about this guy.
If the rumors of Nick taking staff are true (and, honestly, I do not think that they are) and word of Les being willing to retain Will as DC are true, then Will has a decision to make. Either go to Miami and be a position coach or stay at LSU as DC. Going to Miami could open up future NFL opportunities for him, if that's what he wants, and it also allows him to remain viable as a future college HC option. Does being, say, LB coach with the Dolphins trump being DC at a top ten LSU when it comes to his future HC prospects, assuming that's what he ultimately wants? That's for Will to decide.
the thing i don't understand is that everyone keeps saying miles is great at recruiting. well if hes great at recruiting then why is the defense ranked soo bad? is it they have the wrong type players to run clay's scheme? if hes a great recruiter then why haven't they gotten the right type players? everyone keeps trying to sugar coat everything but are talking out both sides of their face. either the dc sucks or the players they had suck. if its the players that suck then i would say that miles isn't a great recruiter or if its clay that sucks then we don't want him. i don't care what clay did at smaller schools, what has he done at a sec school or any other big school?
