First off we are Tiger fans, and judging from what everyone says we are all a$$holes. So do me a favor, go back to your board and tell all the Sooners that we are nice friendly people and they should come over to the board and join us!!....with that being said....quit talking about all this New Orleans food...I live in Dallas now and you guys are making me hungry!!!!!!

Emeril's and Emeril's Delmonico are two of my favorites.
5 star cuisine but a bit pricey. Dickie Brennan's (Steaks) is also outstanding. There will be plenty of hustlers who will bet you
they can tell you where you got your shoes or offer to spell your last name, etc. They're amusing but not worth jacking with.

There are a few other good places to hit.

For the best fried chicken in town, go to Mama's Tasty Foods. It's behind the McDonald's at the corner of Louisiana & St. Charles (Go during the day--iffy neighborhood at night.)

If you or anyone you know is staying at the Holiday Inn Express at Manhattan & Lapalco, you're very close to a couple of local chains. Raising Cane's is a chicken finger place that started up in Baton Rouge a few years ago. Semolina's is an Italian restaurant chain with some unique dishes such as macaroni and cheese cake, and gyro pasta.

There are a lot of good places in the Riverbend section of town. One word of caution: they tend to have limited hours or close altogether during semester break because they're close to Tulane and Loyola. One is Cooter Brown's which has already been mentioned. You might also like the Dough Bowl next door to the Boot (a bar with VERY cheap drinks but likely to be overrun by high schoolers.) Both places serve standard bar food. Cooter's has one of those Internet jukeboxes with hundreds of thousands of songs available. The Riverbend also has Sara's, located behind Walgreen's. Asian/Creole food, very unique place. It's open Tue-Sat, for a few hours for lunch and a few hours for dinner. Babylon Cafe on Maple is Greek/Lebanese and you can get lunch there for about $5-$6 per person. O'Henry's is your rugular old resuarant, known for allowing you to throw your peanut shells on the floor. Louisiana Pizza Kitchen's name is self explanatory. THey cook their pizzas in a wood burning oven.

A couple more in the Quarter: Alex Patout's is a good Cajun restaurant in the Quarter. Mike Anderson's is a seafood place owned by a former Tiger.

If anyone has access to soonerfans.com, feel free to post our recommendations there. My account isn't working right and I can read but not post.

    Things To Do

    Parking WILL BE INSANE!

If you are staying in the Quarter then no problem. Also if you're in a hotel across the street (Canal St.) from the Quarter you're still okay as long as it's not too far down the block.

I'd take a cab from any hotel if you are too far to walk it.

You don't want to drive from downtown drunk. And it doesn't take but one little wrong turn and going one or two blocks before
you found yourself in the WRONG SECTION of town.

Depending on your age, you may want to check out the Aquarium, Audobon Zoo, and the WWII museum (opened in conjuction w. "Saving Private Ryan") when you are not drinking. Fun French Quarter Bars include Pat O'Briens, Razzoo's and Tropical Ilse. Cool Uptown Bars include Bulldog, Columns, F&M's (late nite drinks w/ pool table dancing and drunk food not to be missed) as well as Whiskey Blue (Lenny Kravitz's bar in the W Hotel) Have fun Sooners!

Hey sooner, I'll give you advice that I tried to give a Illini fan at the last Sugar Bowl. Don't play three card monty. No matter how sure of yourself you are that you can win, and no matter how easily other people are winning, you will NOT win. The people that are winning are working with the shuffler. Believe me it will be tempting, but thats what these guys do. I told this Idiot Illini not to lay his money down about ten times, but finally he laid a hundred on the table and bam, gone quicker than Clay Aikens career. As a matter of fact, don't bet anyone anywhere in New Orleans, unless you're in Harrahs.

    Re: Things To Do

They need to bear in mind that if they're going to the game by cab, no cabbie will take them anywhere closer than about 4-5 blocks from the Dome. And after the game, if you're looking for an empty cab...good luck. If you're lucky, maybe you can share a cab
w/ some other people...for special events at the Dome, the cab services usually give a special per person rate, i.e., they turn off the meter and set a fixed price...it's usually pretty reasonable, too.

    Cab

I'm not talking about taking a cab to the Sugar Bowl. I'm saying they should take a cab to the French Quarter if their in town before or after the game for a few days.
