i interpret his use of "you" as calling the cartoon protesters on his campus "aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Moslems". it really reads like he is calling all muslims those things which is the ignorant and unacceptable part. if you think my interpretation is wrong, then thats another matter, and uninteresting.
it seems unlikely he thinks the guys on campus are slave traders. why do you continue the liberal practice of scoffing at people who speak honestly about their frustrations. people who are protesting cartoons are idiots. and i am tired of letting people off the hook for being part of a violent cult, as long they themselves are not participating directly in the violence. all muslims are terrible and should quit being muslims.
i have no problem with honesty. in fact i would like it to be strongly encouraged for faculty members. but when it reveals bigotry, action should be taken. i would have no problem with him calling the protesters idiots (although i would hope for a smarter argument)
what is wrong with bigotry? if a man happens to be tired of muslims and their nonsense, there is nothing wrong with that. speaking your mind should always be encouraged. part of the problem with this country is that we are too cowardly to reveal our prejudices. we need to create an environment where even the most vile and reprehensible opinions are offered up willingly. i also continue to see a double standard with regard to religions. tom cruise and scientology are routinely mocked by everyone, but islam, which right now is the cause of incredible bloodshed, is treated with respect and reverence. i am sick of it. i dont care if you are a non-violent muslim. i dont care if you are a non-violent christian that bakes cakes for the homeless. your beliefs are infantile and shameful and stupid, and you should be mocked at every opportunity, and learn that you should be embrassed and ashamed of your own stupid bull**** if this professor is in fact bigoted, and does not like islam, what of it? good for him. who are we to tell him who to like and dislike and why? all we should expect of him is that he treats people fairly, not that he thinks and says the right things.
