We have Jarrett Lee, a senior with 7 or 8 games of starting experience. Frankly, he has never been a big drop-off from Jefferson. He's seen the SEC defenses, he's been in hostile stadiums, he saved important games last year. Mettenberger is a diamond in the rough that only needs time to learn the offense and PT to see top defenses to be the QB of the future at LSU. LSU could be in a lot worse position. We had the best quarterback depth in the SEC and it has already paid off. Neither Lee nor Mettenberger have to worry about seeing the field this season.
If the reports are true and we have to continue on with either Lee or Mett, I agree all is not lost. That aside, I just wish we could have a discussion about it without it turning into a pissing contest. I guess that's asking a lot, though...lol.
good perspective. hopefully, when all this shakes out, after interviews by police, etc, JJ is still the starting QB and we have all options. but, if not, then what you say is spot on.
If he didnt sneak out, what did he do? You think Les loaded up the bus and drove em there? Yes he showed poor restraint. I know, I made many mistakes during my days at LSU. It's easy to do, but I would hope with everything on the line, he would have shown better judgement as the senior starting QB. To your other comment, I could care less about record. I just want a well prepared team that gives 100% on and off the field.
How steady is Jefferson gong to be after all of this? Even if he ducks charges and evades suspension which seem unlikely, knowing Les. It is two weeks to Oregon. I think Les has to move on and start practicing Lee and Mettenberger with the 1st team immediately. I sincerely hope that Jefferson's career isn't over, but I can't see a circumstance where he will be playing in the Oregon game.
Oh ok cool. I thought someone had said Johns at first. In fact I think I made a joke about it. Then someone said Downs. Ok, well that's a relief that Downs isn't involved in this.
